I got some about an hour ago, but they were all noisy (overflow) and crunched out in 20 seconds each. The supply soon dried up.

It took me long enough. The story is...

We were running an old feeder that wasn't interleaving workunits from different apps. I tried to update the feeder, but the format of the shared memory segment has been changed. So I had to rebuild everything. That didn't work the first time because there had been database changes, too. The database is updated and work should be flowing again...

I think there is something wrong with work units with name starting with 04ja07aa.1367. They get -9 result_overflow because of Triplet count: 31. Normaly it is the spikes that overflow. Also this seems strange - WU true angle range is : 20.329468

That AR does seem high, nearly double the maximum we used to see—but the Multibeam data don’t seem to have the same range as the old. Does the figure jive with the starting and ending positions? Or might it have been miscaculated as in the ‘blank’ batch of WUs that we got a while ago?

My G4/733 is 96% of the way through one of those, namely 04ja07aa.1367.283449.4.4, after a little over 12 h of crunching; it seems quite normal so far, with an AR of about 0.61.

Those are ones that I got while Eric was trying to get things working for us. I just noticed he posted the same time as my previous post. But like i said, what really caught my eye was the Triplet count.

I've noticed this, too. Workunits nearest to 1420 MHz tend to have lots of triplets. I haven't decided whether this is a problem with the recorder, spectrometer, or somewhere else. It might also be related to "frequency switching" that takes place near the begining of an observing run.

When I came in to work this morning I saw a whole lot of 04ja07aa.1367.287130.… WUs that had taken about half a minute each to run, all with status Uploading; I presume they’ll be revealed as –9 overflows when the project’s back up and they get reported. Some of them have extremely high ARs (I only looked at a few but found one of nearly 75°), and these figures do correspond with the stated starting and ending coördinates.

Eric, and everyone,

Excalibur, (my Athlon 1.6GHz machine), has been stating for days and is still stating in "Messages" only for the Beta Project, "No Work from Project". I would copy and paste the Messages here; however, there are many of them; along with the corresponding initial request messages, they would take up more than a page... Suffice to say, communication is taking place between Excalibur and the Beta Project; and while there are no more DNS issues for me, nor "message timeouts" as I have reverted to BOINC 5.4.11 yesterday, I am still receiving the "No Work from Project" message for Beta Project only.

<Edit: > OK - I just saw and read Pappa's Thread, "Workunit Queue is Ran Down!"... So, I will wait now along with all of you. Good luck, Eric. </Edit. >

Sincerely,

If you check my latest post in the SETI@home staff blog, you'll see that I've figured out the cause of the large number of triplets in work units. I don't want to make more workunit until I've built a splitter with the fix. We'll probably run out of work before that happens. Sorry.

Still no work. I made a stupid mistake this morning and lost much of the coding I did over the weekend. Hopefully it's on a backup somewhere....

:(

Eric

Then I would suspect you are not using UltraEdit or UEStudio not only does in understand programing languages but it keeps backups...

I prefer to use metapad

Metapad is a small, fast (and completely free) text editor for Windows 9x/NT/XP with similar features to Microsoft Notepad but with many extra (and rather useful) features. It was designed to completely replace Notepad since it includes all of Notepad's features and much, much more.

metapad's enhanced feature set includes:

* Persistent window placement
* Dirty file notification
* Intelligent Find and Replace
* External viewer support (e.g. web browser)
* Usable accelerator keys (Ctrl+S, Ctrl+N, etc.)
* Dual customizable font support
* Optional Quick Exit (Esc key)
* Configurable tab stop setting
* Auto-indent mode
* Go to Line/Column
* Seamless UNIX text file support
* Block indent and unindent (Tab, Shift+Tab)
* Recent files list
* WYSIWYG printing
* Snazzy status bar & funky toolbar
* No file size limit! (under Win9x)
* Hyperlink support
* User interface language plugins
