See this computer (just an example, not an accusation): 14358 My 200 MHz. Pentium MMX Win95 system now also has a 500 quota. I'd guess the change was intentional for Demiurg to be able to burn in his 160 CPU system. That'll give him 2000/day, I hope the splitters can keep up. Joe

Hi Joe my three (3) computers still show: Maximum daily WU quota per CPU 50/day ? which gives me 200 per day per computer Joe is that corect for my computers ? _my Computer_id_5302_ _my Computer_id_5303_ _my Computer_id_5304_ Best Wishes Byron

My computer is still at 50/cpu =100 a day unless there are errors this doesnt seem to be a problem to me

... That's the way it has been for months, I was just guessing why a change might have been instituted. I agree there's some kind of problem. I checked my other hosts, 10490 is also at 500, but 2605 is still at 50. Perhaps an update script quit without making all the intended changes, or maybe the changes were accidental. Joe

... Joe ... thanks for that information Best Wishes Byron

I think when the quota is changed you have to return tasks successfully for it to increase on your hosts. That would explain why some hosts are up and some are not.

Mine is still at 50, the 500 may be some kind of mistake. Although with that new computer you really do need a huge allotment of WUs. I recall that there is a 200 (or 400?) max daily limit. Should there now be a change in the Boinc code to allow any number of CPUs? I think that even now that would be more fair to users of 8 CPU machines which are becomming more common.

Yikes! Assume the 4 CPU/host limit still applies: that's 2000 WUs a day, at 8MB each, or 16GB/day. Let's hope they don't make another typo in the Astropulse splitter, or I'm going to have to have words with my ISP.

I am amazed and grateful that they have cranked up the quota for my little testrun. I was thinking about massing a bunch on the office PCs and then download them onto the simulator, but no need now.

Well, I wish that we could use it at least on weekends to run Seti, but with 64 thousand simulations that take one week each on a Core Duo waiting to be run even this computer is to small for our current needs.

If the work is so important, and now that you've spent three months working out how it's done, couldn't you persuade your bosses of the benefits of having a hot spare?

Well, I wish that we could use it at least on weekends to run Seti, but with 64 thousand simulations that take one week each on a Core Duo waiting to be run even this computer is to small for our current needs. I wish... You know it is an expensive piece of machinery and still we have had to shoestring it a lot. Guess why we are reusing the Sun E5500 cabinets. Prio uno right is to expand it so that I get a cube with 8 by 8 by 8 processes instead of the current topology of 8*8*4. And this is still just a simulation of the computer that we really would need. A cube with 64*64*64 processes, then we would only need 64 computational steps to finnish one simulation. If someone got confused. Yes we have a computer simulating that it is a bigger computer running simulations... I could actually see my overheating baldspot grow as I mapped it out. If I could get a redesign of myself I would opt for fluid cooling of my head. Carl

In the realm of curious facts, yesterday when I checked the quotas for systems of those who have posted in this thread, all were at 500/day. Today, Byron's systems remain at 500, all others are at 50 (including the Mac system mentioned in the original post). Joe
