Why run SETI@Home BETA? Well, when we find the aliens, they are likely to be evil, alien overlords. And when the evil, alien overlords crush all resistance before them and enslave the human race, I just want it on record that I did all I could to let them know where we were so that they may spare me the work camps and give me a place in the royal palace as a personal servant. They'll treat me much better there. I will amuse my new alien oppressors. "Dance!" they'll say, "Dance, monkey boy, DANCE!"
