A vast crater on Pluto has been named after the 11-year-old English girl who suggested the Roman God when the planet was first discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930.

Nice. Shame the report was marred by them getting her name wrong at the start of the report, then correct at the end.

It is interesting how many people think Pluto was named after Mickey Mouse's pet dog.

Next you'll tell me Mars was named after the Roman god of war instead of the candy bar.

The first telescopic observation of Mars was probably undertaken by Galileo Galilei around 1608 to 1610. We do know it was named after the Roman god of war, because its reddish colour reminded people of blood.

Mercury was the Roman god of communication, Venus was the Roman god of love, Terra Mater was the Roman goddess of earth. ...Jupiter was the Roman god of the Sky, Saturn was the Roman god of agriculture, Uranus was the Greek god of the sky, Neptune was the Roman god of the sea. Odd how the Greeks only managed 1 out of the 8 major planets.

Mars of course is famous for the Snickers bar, sold in the UK as Marathon. That led to the excruciating TV advert "Have you got the Snickers? No it's just the way I walk". Anyway Women come from Venus, so there!
