My brother Steve and his friend Chris came down for a rare visit. On Dec 31 we all went, with sister Rachel and nephew Ryan, on an outing to Tennessee Valley up in Marin. It was a nice day in the middle of weeks of rain. There were torrents of water everywhere, occasionally making the trail a bit hard to negotiate. 
Ryan and I forded a menacing river to get to the beach. 
Ryan found a washed-up bouy (or boat bumper) and adopted it. 
We climbed the bluffs to the right of the beach.
