http://files.mail.ru/YV8X0F This builds implements V7 part (autocorrelation search) completely on GPU. It considerably faster and uses much less CPU than rev246. Please, test this new build. Example of app_info.xml file: <app_info> <app> <name>setiathome_v7</name> <user_friendly_name>SETI@home v7</user_friendly_name> </app> <file_info> <name>MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_r331.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>MultiBeam_Kernels_r331.cl</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_v7</app_name> <version_num>691</version_num> <platform>windows_intelx86</platform> <avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.05</max_ncpus> <plan_class>ati13ati</plan_class> <cmdline>-period_iterations_num 1 -instances_per_device 1 -hp</cmdline> <flops>20987654321</flops> <file_ref> <file_name>MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_r331.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>MultiBeam_Kernels_r331.cl</file_name> <copy_file/> </file_ref> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>1</count> </coproc> </app_version> </app_info> News about SETI opt app releases: https://twitter.com/Raistmer |

On my HD 6970, the tasks finish real quick - with success - but it's still wrong. Before I paused work, I finished 9 tasks, of which only one has any logging info -all the others have just empty stderr. The one that did have stderr info states " SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow NOTE: The number of results detected exceeds the storage space allocated. " |

I was not able to get working config with Catalyst higher than 11.2 on HD6950. Maybe you should try different drivers... And what about MV V6 rev 177 ? Does it work OK on your GPU ? News about SETI opt app releases: https://twitter.com/Raistmer |

So you got the same -9 errors on CAL 11.3 and later? I'm only running AP on ATI, and that works very well. When there was enough AP tasks my HD6970 had a RAC of 40000+ / top 40. |

I am testing my first paket and mouse is freezing for half a second several times a minute.... GPU load is 80%+ all the time TRuEQ & TuVaLu |

So you got the same -9 errors on CAL 11.3 and later? For testing purposes could you do bench run with V7 and V6 app on PG set? (or use r177 on SETI main for some time to check if it works or gives constant overflows too) And no, I didn't get -9s but I've got constant driver crashes and big slowdown with V7 MB (and with AP to0). So your experience differes from mine in this part. News about SETI opt app releases: https://twitter.com/Raistmer |

Link to result2: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/result.php?resultid=9598487 I know saw in task manager that the .ex was run in high priority... I'll try decrease it to normal in the next paket and mouse still lags a little..... TRuEQ & TuVaLu |

I removed the -hp switch and confirmed that it is run in low priority And still freezes even the cursor not just the mouse for a second or 2 And it feels like the freeze time increased a bit with low priority.... //TQ TRuEQ & TuVaLu |

it's in beta, no V7 on main. V6 Multibeam only. just run 0.38 installer to get r177 running on main. News about SETI opt app releases: https://twitter.com/Raistmer |

Finally tricked my Boinc to get a few .r177 tasks in seti@home I experiance normal CPU lag, The same lag i can experience when running other projects and I change task(cpu) priority. It does not freeze the mouse or cursor. Only the Beta does that. And the Beta causes no lag whatsoever. Only the freezing thing. I'll run a few more .r177 to be sure //TQ TRuEQ & TuVaLu |

Just ran some benchmarks: QuadCore Intel Core i7-2600K, 3400 MHz on windows 7 x64 sp1 2x ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (1024 MB) crossfire mode Catalyst 11.6 but opencl from 11.2 (so OpenCL 1.1 ATI-Stream-v2.3) AK_v8_win_x64_AVX.exe I found on the web (was just a recompile to support AVX). Benchmark with KWSN Knabench 1.81r Quick timetable WU : PG0009.wu AK_v8_win_x64_AVX.exe : 45.303 secs CPU AK_v8_win_x64_SSE41.exe : 50.295 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_SSE3_ATI_HD5_r177.exe : 31.855 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r246_SETI7.exe : 31.559 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_r331.exe : 42.916 secs CPU WU : PG0395.wu AK_v8_win_x64_AVX.exe : 45.115 secs CPU AK_v8_win_x64_SSE41.exe : 50.201 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_SSE3_ATI_HD5_r177.exe : 31.902 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r246_SETI7.exe : 31.465 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_r331.exe : 42.916 secs CPU WU : PG0444.wu AK_v8_win_x64_AVX.exe : 45.115 secs CPU AK_v8_win_x64_SSE41.exe : 50.217 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_SSE3_ATI_HD5_r177.exe : 32.167 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r246_SETI7.exe : 31.840 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_r331.exe : 43.259 secs CPU WU : PG1327.wu AK_v8_win_x64_AVX.exe : 45.162 secs CPU AK_v8_win_x64_SSE41.exe : 50.295 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_SSE3_ATI_HD5_r177.exe : 32.105 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r246_SETI7.exe : 31.637 secs CPU MB_6.10_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_r331.exe : 43.165 secs CPU So it seems slower than r246 perhaps I need a HD5 version ? |

emstorm, You're comparing apples to oranges there, You're testing v6 Wu's with three v6 only apps, one v7 only app, and one v6/v7 app, Here's a bench with v7 apps and v7 Wu's (C2D E8500 @4.14GHz and HD5770, Cat 11.6/SDK2.4): setiathome_6.95_windows_intelx86.exe -verb -nog / PG0009_v7.wu : Claggy |
