Let me know it there are any problems.

Mac-heads need to call Apple and tell them to update their supported compiler to a GCC that supports AVX.

Reposting this info from main...

Looks like Apple is not going to support the newer builds either as they have changed to clang as the supported environment.

Charlie might want to look into Macports instead. They have GCC up to 4.6.1 currently.

Thanks. There's nothing like using a compiler that requires you to rewrite the compiler in order to do optimizations. Did Apple write code that allow clang vector extensions to be used to generate SSE2/3/4/AVX code?

Well, I'll break the news to Charlie.

I picked that info up searching the internet on GCC 4.4 for Apple.

Is Charlie running Lion or Snow Leopard?

Where I got the info on Macports was from here.

I don't know the details of what's usable for Mac/Intel, but the clang API page at http://clang.llvm.org/doxygen/dir_a12c483d74181b6af07cb8651015b6e7.html shows a full set of vector intrinsics header files.

If so, it should be possible to get the intrinsics versions to compile. Hopefully Charlie will enjoy that.

Apparently 61 work units (all v7 6.97) were sent to my computer. All ended with "error while computing". Previous versions ended normally,

System configuration follows:
OS: Windows XP SP3 (32bit)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8Ghz
Memory: 2GB
Boinc Version: 6.12.33 (x86)

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks,
Mike

I just allowed some work for my AMD quad and they seem to be running fine, at least they are running longer than his.

Of course I had 3 go off real quick with -9 overflows.
