Updated 2 computers to 6.12.34 yesterday & within a short space of time today, both rigs got this.... Up until the upgrade, have had no problems on any rig with AV/Projects. |

Mcafee and AVG find no problem with the 6.97 Graphics app here, eithier you have a local infection, or you're getting false positives, Claggy |

We do recommend that you set the BOINC Data folder to not be scanned by AV software. |

As I pointed out the last time this happened, one of the better ways of working out what might be happening is to submit the suspect file to http://www.virustotal.com - that checks it against a range of antivirus products. I've done that today for both setigraphics_6.97_windows_intelx86.exe and the main application file setiathome_6.97_windows_intelx86.exe. Result: both files were reported virus-free by all 44 products used in the test, including AVG version 10.0.0.1190 dated 2011.09.11 BOINC science applications, especially for projects operated by major academic institutions, are prepared under secure conditions and digitally signed before distribution. While that doesn't completely guarantee safety, I think the safeguards are strong enough to justify arkayn's advice to disable AV scanning on the BOINNC data folder. |
