How can these three validate? http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=5333443 When I was sent the third WU, the two other was inconclusive. The first host (499141) had: single pulses: 24 repetitive pulses: 30 percent blanked: 4.79 The second host (56392) had: Found 30 single pulses and 30 repeating pulses, exiting. percent blanked: 4.78 And now my host (57178) have single pulses: 24 repetitive pulses: 30 percent blanked: 4.79 All three validated even though host (56392) had 30 single pulses and 30 repeating pulses, compared to the other two who had 24 single pulses and 30 repetitive pulses. Less important perhaps, is that host (56392) reports 4.78 percent blanked, while the other two reports 4.79 percent blanked. Isn't there any significant difference between 30/30 and 24/30? Also, the credit for this task is extremely low. Edit: Host 56392 (Tim Taylor) seems to do extremely many 30/30 results, and he validates often against others who does not come up with 30/30 but xx/30. I have another one going now http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=5332595 where Tim Taylor is inconclusive 30/30 against one with single pulses: 22 repetitive pulses: 30. I bet my results will be 22/30 too, and even this time Tim Taylor (56392) will validate and get his credit, even though his host is clearly throwing crap around. WARNING!! How can these three validate? OK, the last one at least http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=5332595 Tim Taylors result came up as invalid when I had returned my result. WARNING!! ... Often not, as far as the AP Validator is concerned. For single pulses (and the ten "best" pulses which are also single pulses), only those which are at least 1% above threshold are compared. It is common for reported single pulses (by definition above threshold) to be below that critical level so not checked. Joe |
