Message 46791 - Posted: 7 Sep 2013, 12:50:29 UTC

On my Shield i installed now NativeBoinc with bugcatcher mode.
The v7.07 app run without problem but i got a message with a bug found.

Can i send the files to somewhere or should i post all 8 files here?

Would be nice if you could upload them all somewhere and post link.
Also you can send them (via NativeBOINC interface) to app author (in case it's some other issue, not SETI app connected). But save them on SD before sending, they will be deleted after send.

That gives me something to work with, if I'm interpreting the registers correctly the exception occurs at address 0x400381c0. Don't have time to dump the executable now, but this evening maybe.

Hmmm...

Can't figure out why I'm seeing "don't compute while active" and "don't use GPU while active" in Event Log, when there are no such options on Play Store's version of Boinc, meanwhile Boinc itself claims in it's own prefs that:

"These preferences do not apply to Android devices."

Weird... So where are these options selected? Bit of a phantom Catch 22.

Look in 'Manage Client' then Local Preferences.
There's a check box for the GPU and this: "While processor useage is less than ___%" I have mine set at 0.0% to run all of the time.

Well I guess the good news is that BOINC 7.0.36 (that doesn't sound right btw) actually has those options. Unfortunately for me BOINC 7.2.9 (Play Store) doesn't have any of those options:)
(If your Nexus 7 screenshot is showing Boinc in the background and not some other app, then mine looks quite different)

Thanx, I will. Still working my booty off, but will try to find time.

Sorry, I never noticed, I'm using nativeboinc. As soon as my tasks get done I'll install official BOINC

???? Are you sure you read conversations in this thread right ?
All you need is to enable BugCatch mode, not to switch to stock BOINc.

Okay, first 4 tasks finished. 2 validated and 2 pending.

Bugcatcher was enabled around 90% mark, it says it caught some.

I don't know if the numbers mean anything but:

flops / cpu = 321,838,219.51 this seems high for an old cell phone.

Min's / CS = 20.24 seems like low credit for a device this fast.

Anyway ... 1 down and 2 is on its way

flops / cpu = 543,981,287.71
Min's / CS = 14.31

2 down and verified working on #3

(It's nice to have a "dead phone" laying around)

It's because Eric switched to initial replication =3 (and validation remained on 2).
There will be many such aborted tasks if all will be fine (then third unneeded).

and the beat goes on ...

flops / cpu sec = 331,778,541.92
Min's / CS = 28.76

3 down and verified working on #4

This seems as easy as pie!

Finished 2 WUs on a Kindle Fire both complete/validated.

First AR .4137 finished in 129,333.51sec. v7.07 (armv7a) use 1 cpu core set in boinc setting
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/result.php?resultid=14680979

Second AR .00807 finished in 123,988.00sec.v7.09 (armv6) use 2 cpu set in the boinc setting
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/result.php?resultid=14688046

Does freeing up the second cpu core help much with the vlar or is it mostly due to the armv6 app?I was expecting a much higher run time

My first task has completed and validated but took about three times longer to complete than the buddy PC. Is getting about 4.2 credits an hour.

http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=5669795

My first task just completed and I got about 2 cr/hr. This compares with 6 cr/hr on WCG, 9 cr/hr on Asteroids and 14 cr/hr for Skynet POGS.

First two sets of tasks logged bugs but completed and validated fine. The third set of tasks crunched for three minutes with no progress then Bugcatcher announced some bugs and then the progress bar started to move.

Bugcatcher reports.
