One more thing to watch for are tasks that have the message:
SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow
That message can indicate there was a lot of noise in the signal, probably from a satellite pass over the telescope. A large number of results can also be a clue to a processing device that is not operating normally. Such as a GPU overheating or other host PC weirdness.

Thanks Raistmer and AMDave
Accordingly, this Wu is useless.

Overflows have existed and been recorded like that since the very start of the SETI@Home project.

With traditional linear applications, all quorum partners usually find the same signals in the same order, and the tasks pass validation at the first attempt.

Raistmer has explained several times (but unfortunately I don't have a message link handy) that SoG and similar variant applications don't necessarily process all parts of the task in the same order as traditional apps, and the different order of signal presentation can result in failure to validate immediately.

He has determined that the increased speed of SoG processing outweighs the inefficiency of requiring extra replications to complete validation.

Not necessarily - maybe all those signals are ET's version of WOW!

It will be processed through validation as normal, until either two results match or the maximum allowed number of replications has been sent out and returned. If it validates, the signals will be recorded in the master science database like any other WU.

(or would be, if this was the main project. Since Beta is purely for application testing, I'm not sure whether any work done here has scientific value)

@Richard
Are either of these the message to which you referred?
