We're just peons. Peons aren't asked what they think about this or that. They're supposed to just work, and shut the F up.

Work, work, don't think.

What is it with this horrible greeen everywhere? Halloween was a while ago.

It's high time that us, the users, put our foot down with a firm hand and said enough is enough.

1. We were not asked
2. We were not consulted
3. It was imposed upon us
4. We object to being guinea pigs to sort out THEIR programming inabilities

It is US crunchers that make these places what they are today, NOT these developers/coders that are clearly not in touch with the real world. First Einstein, then Boinc, now Beta. Where next. Would you let your daughter marry one?

The teal green isn't my favorite, but against the blue background for the user area it is not a good contrast. It isn't so bad on the nav bar since it switches from white to green.

Where are you all seeing a "Blue Background"??? I see the Mint Green Text against Gray and Black Background. I see a Blue Bar across the top of the Page with White Lettering; Upper Left Corner with "SETI@HOME" Logo, "Your Account", "Project", "Community", "Site", then Upper Right Corner with my Handle Name, and "Log out".

When hitting the Post Button, the Text Box has a bright White Background with Black Text as I type. The rest of the Background is Black except for the "Rules" area which is Gray and has White Text.

When hovering over the Post Reply button, the Text for "Post Reply" changes from legible Black Text to illegible White Text.

Other than the Upper Bar area, the ONLY Blue I see is a Blue Background behind our Avatars on the Left Hand Side of the screen. ("Author" in White Text, Username/Handle in Mint Green, "Volunteer Tester" in White Text, Join Date in White Text, Individual Post Count, Total Credit, and RAC all in White Text.)

[EDIT:]

Computer used is MAC/Hackintosh on El Capitan 10.11.4, FF 50, no customization of FF to display Web Pages. So, the Page for me is shown as delivered by the Server.

I wonder if some have an ADA claim based on color blindness. I just wonder how the regents would react to such an inquiry?

And yes having the text of the button vaporize when you hover it sucks. White on light gray.

I got the Blue Background behind the User Info to go away.

1.) Your Account

2.) Community Preferences

3.) Untick "Highlight Special Users"

4.) Hit Update to save changes

5.) Return to the Cafe, enter any Thread, Blue Background is gone...

Hope this helps. (Got this from the BOINC Boards.)

At least it is a legible color combination now.
I'm not a fan of the green that is somewhere between teal and cyan, but as long as the site is legible.
If they stick with something I really don't care for I have an add-on for firefox that lets me change the colors however I like for specific domains, sites, or pages.
Like I've done here: http://i.imgur.com/mS8VRuQ.png

The quoted text being larger still bothers me as well. Unless the original text size was changed by that person. I don't see why it would be different from the rest of the post. As with nested quotes posts will just become increasingly longer.

In this thread the user box is the right size. In the Word link thread the user box takes up about 1/4 of the page. HUH?! And in the last person to post thread it is a different width yet! <facepalm>

Hmmm, cancel that thought....
First guess at the varying name column width issue is not correct. The guess was that it was a function of name length and wrapping, I its working OK in both "word link" and here, but the column widths are totally crazy over there and OK here.....

Have discovered the width on Word Link changes on rotation. Viewing portrait it is narrow as on here and TLPTPHW. View in landscape and it widens, but only on that thread ...

Change for the sake of change only.
Can the secret government save us from this?
Can the black helicopters save us from this?
Illuminati?
Sigh....

To be honest with updates to the BOINC and Beta sites after post about Nebula that Dr. Anderson made I figured it was all related.
It could be addressing issues from other projects at the same time, or it might be polishing things up to help in the bid to get funding for BOINC and SETI.

It looks like several issues have been fixed and a new color scheme picked. The color bar to indicate special users instead of the background is probably a safer long term choice.
Many of the common places where there are dropdown list boxes are no longer filling the width of the screen as well. There are still many that do. I'm guessing that is a WIP..

The colour bar is certainly less stressful on the eyes than the blue boxes that were there. Also the use of various "shades of grey" (not 50 shades of grey - yet) makes it far easier to see individual posts.

And no green text to upset my breakfast

The current scheme puts me in mind of the Cosmology@Home arrangement, and the mobile version had me think I accidentally accessed Universe@Home instead...

In the recent round of changes; the Blue Background on User Names has been replaced by a Light Mint Green Bar to the far left of the User Information. Kind of moot, now; as the Text for Usernames is now White.

Still of annoyance is the fact that when hovering over "Post Reply" it still turns illegible White... :-(

Posting to let everyone know to GO TO Number Crunching at Main, GO TO the "Panic Mode...(103)..." Thread, find HAL9000's Post with a Link to Color-That-Site for Firefox. (If you have Firefox, that is...) Click said Link and Install Color-That-Site. Upon completion of Install, you will be prompted to Restart FF. Upon Restart of FF, go to SETI@Home-Beta Page: Go Here.

THEN with the SETI@Home-Beta Page from above Open, GO TO "Tools" ---> Color That Site

In the Sidebar for Color-That Page, hit "Go".

For me, at that point, ALL I had to do was go to Background Colors ---> "Invert Colors" - (Check Box)

Then Foreground Colors ---> "Invert Colors" - (Check Box)

THEN go up and hit Save.

For some reason, at first, NOT every part of the Forum got Inverted... I had to set a couple of Pages in the Forum... All of a sudden, the WHOLE Site GOT FIXED!!! NOW, I have a Light Gray Background and Black Text all through the Site.

UNFORTUNATELY, by Inverting the Color Scheme, my Sig is adversely affected. Natural Sig for me is Blue Text for "Have TARDIS will travel" and "Pluto is still a planet"... NOW with the Inversion, the Sig is Yellow.

I'll GLADLY take the Yellow Sig if I can have the Light Gray Background with Black Text EVERYWHERE else!!! 😃 😃 😃 😃

TL

[EDIT:]

FINALLY found how to Edit my Sig Color in Color-That-Page. Had to "Change" my Settings for the Page where my Sig was Posted and Displayed, then Drag the Yellow color square out to the "Drag color here" location in Color-That-Page's Settings and Re-Save the Settings.

Now my Sig is Blue again. 😃 😃 😃
