I wish I knew also. It is especially bad on the Android apps. A single app is obviously the best choice, has finished and validated hundreds of tasks and yet, the scheduler continues to throw every possible app at the devices, even apps that have never finished a task and only errored out. The scheduler app optimization mechanism does not work evidently.

Or this is a test site and it needs to throw everything at everything to see what works and what doesn't?

There might be an simple answer for that.
Either Eric didn`t think its not needed anymore or he simply didn`t find the time to remove it.

Why should he need to remove it? The system "should" be able by the obvious APR difference to find which app is the fastest?

I'll let things settle for a few more days, and perhaps then, the obvious 100% choice will be SETI@home v8 8.08 windows_x86_64 (alt) , and not one single WU for the much slower SETI@home v8 8.05 windows_x86_64.

I was commenting on my Android devices at Main. I never have put them on Beta.

IIRC they must complete - validate 10 WU before it selects fastest. If they all error out, then it doesn't have 10 completed - validated tasks. That may be the bug.

Not the case for example with the phone. Host 7332105

All the apps have well exceeded the necessary 11 valid tasks with no blanking or overflows. The scheduler just keeps throwing the kitchen sink at the device. The scheduler should by now have figured out the fastest most reliable application.

Beta is about TESTING an application, be it server or client, not about running a particular client application "to its maximum"

But I am not talking about any device on Beta. I am talking about any device on MAIN. The mechanism that is supposed to determine which stock app is best for each device after pushing every app at the device is NOT WORKING.

Well, this workunit wasn't much too boast about :-)
SETI@home error -6 Bad workunit header.
Still being sent out to others, with the same result.
That WU, will ultimately fail.

They up at Main with about 1 a month frequency too. Not sure what the mechanism is that causes it.

Yeah, very stable system nowadays. One can always count on at least one error being present at a given time. Both here and on main :-)

An MB vlar storm I believe. Not much else than that coming down the pipe.
Takes forever to crunch on the GPU, but then, who's in a hurry? :-)

I know there are problems over on main, but there seem to be issues here as well.
My client reports:

01-Apr-2018 13:56:51 [SETI@home Beta Test] Server error: feeder not running

Server status page lists feeder as "Running", however this may not be up to date as it also includes the following:

Remote daemon status as of 31 Mar 2018, 3:00:18 UTC

I had a bunch of Beta WUs time out, apparently, even though they had due dates later in July. I reset Beta which deleted them all and downloaded 2 incompatible WUs and no others. Did I miss something?

You had some computing errors on your GPU recently.
