The way it was explained to me was. Your account and all trace of it will be replaced with the word "deleted" All your posts will be deleted. However any threads you created will remain, the thread OP will be shown as "deleted". However all post by others will remain, as you personally do not have the other posters permission to totally delete valid posts. Remember this is a delete, no information can be recovered after. So whilst normally posts can be "hidden" the post sill remains, nothing will remain after a delete. All your previous work will remain in the database but will not have an associated account. So if a WU you crunched was found to be the one credited with finding ET, you would not get any recognition as it will just appear as a deleted account. |

I won't be the only one, I can assure you of that.2 options. 1: Delete your accounts. 2: Walk away. Many have done so, yet their account & credits remain. (best option as it retains the work & effort they put into the projects) You've attempted option 2 several times to no avail. |

Info from a decade old profile which at that time was correct & legally authorised by those customers who had Boinc installed. However, what has a photo of Peterborough Magistrates Court got to do with an old profile & this thread? |

then plan B will be to ask for a manual delete, which I know from previous experience can be done. Yes, it can, by Eric, so it may end up further down the list. A temporary solution would be to change your account name, and ask the mods politely to hide all your posts. As there is only 578 here I would be prepared to do that of you really want to leave that badly. Then when Eric get the delete option working you can then delete everything. |

But can I ask that we give Eric a chance to reply first Of course. Timing is down to you. |

Can I assume I've missed some revolting-user-episode...? *trip over yet another bump^ in the mat* he appointed Mods here after I wrote to him via airmail.Chris... do you know what I think? I think getting what you wanted is a peculiarly perverse way of then reaching a decision to have your account deleted, it really is. And I also think the right to be forgotten would work best if it was exercised... well, more low key than this, but never mind :) Anyway, there was an electronic request sent the day before you posted that, which is likelier I think. Your letter probably arrived more like a glace cherry on top would. Still :) you must be pleased with the result :) Not just one moderator, but two! Which reminds me. Congratumiserations, Bernie, and Rob. Long may your patience not run out on us :) What also happened at Boinc Dev was a raid on other people's inboxes, and an en masse deletion of pm's they had received, and chosen not to delete, for all manner of reasons. I don't think that's a right traditionally afforded the sender of communications, not in law anyway. Unless that's changed somehow. However all post by others will remain, as you personally do not have the other posters permission to totally delete valid posts. That is pretty much what happened at Boinc Dev. In the meantime :) while we're waiting for this wish to come to true for you, may the wishes of all those doing the hard work necessary to make it happen, also come true too ;) Have a nice weekend, everyone, wherever you are :) I'm trying to... so you should all too... definitely :) ^Sometimes, if you leap up and down enough, they flatten out. Although that can make them migrate and catch you unawares somewhere else so... *perch on broom* |

Chris I made the offer to hide your posts in good faith, however I was reminded of the fact that hiding 578 post will generate 578 emails for all the moderators. I do not think I can inflict this on my fellow mods, or the email system. Sorry but you will have to wait for a reply from Eric. PS To Annie Still :) you must be pleased with the result :) Not just one moderator, but two! Which reminds me. It's actually all of the mods from main are now mods here. Also I don't think that's a right traditionally afforded the sender of communications, not in law anyway. Unless that's changed somehow. Unfortunately that is exactly what the "right to be forgotten" advocates wanted, everything you have ever done good or bad is totally removed from the internet. |

Wouldn't it be simpler to just ban me for 3 months? When Eric has the time to get around to it, undo the ban and I will press the delete button.Save time, just hit the delete button. no need for the song & dance! |

PS To AnnieYou're all here? We could almost have one each couldn't we? ;) That is excellent news! ;) Congratu-a-bit-late-er-miserations then, to all of you, definitely :) |
