MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714_Vlock.exe is very good at some low AR's,
but pretty bad at other.

.VLAR pretty good, not .VLAR pretty bad.

Is it worth running? Nah, not really. For me MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2010_r3330.exe, seems to be the best option.

end of random ramblings :-)

Hmm, MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714_Vlock.exe seems to be better on Main, where there is blc tasks available.
It's a bit faster on blc tasks, than MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2010_r3330.exe.

With Arecibo tasks though, _Vlock is just a tiny bit faster on Arecibo VLAR tasks, but considerably slower on non VLAR tasks.

Ah well, just (V)lock me up :-)

Further testing here in Beta, seems to indicate that as long as there are lots of VLAR tasks, and not so many "normal" or VHAR tasks,
MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714_Vlock.exe is in total faster than MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2010_r3330.exe.

So, I''l stick with the Vlock app for now.

Hi GPU only, I am curious how I get a copy of MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714_Vlock? I cannot find any reference to it over at Main by searching the application name. I will be interested to see how much time it saves. On CPU using lunatics_win64_v0.45_beta6-for-sog I am currently getting about 1 hour 17 minutes. Recently my 1070 TI using a fastest possible application from beta 6 runs between 6 and 7 minutes, both time referred to are over at Main. TIA for any assistance

It may be that it is a TEST application, not one for general consumption, and has been delivered to users here on Beta to TEST. People who come to Beta with the attitude that it s a place to gain credits are not helping the test process in any way at all.

It's available from http://mikesworld.eu/download.html
I run it now only on Main though, where it seems to gain much in speed, compared to MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2010_r3330.exe, from the SoG installation file.
It will be a manual installation of course, including manual editing of the app_info.xml file.

And as I said in this thread, it's slower than the one you are running now, if there are Arecibo "normal", and "VHAR" tasks (sometimes even slower on Arecibo VLAR's).
But since Main now is sending out mostly blc files, it's in total faster than MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2010_r3330.exe. YMMV of course, but for me and my hardware, that's the result I get.

Examples from my finished and validated tasks there: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=7585453&offset=0&show_names=0&state=4&appid=

Thanks for the link. I will give it a go at some point it will be interesting to see if I can get times within the hour. I am thinking possibly not because I have an older CPU than you

Could somebody please either post in this thread or send me a private message with the text I need to put into my app_info file to get the application to run? TIA

Copy app and dll into your project folder.
Rename the app to MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714.exe,

<app>
<name>setiathome_v8</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714.exe</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<file_info>
<name>libfftw3f-3-3-4_x64.dll</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_v8</app_name>
<version_num>800</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>MB8_win_x64_AVX_VS2017_r3714.exe</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
<file_ref>
<file_name>libfftw3f-3-3-4_x64.dll</file_name>
</file_ref>
</app_version>

Thanks Mike for your help. They are completing with the run-time of about 1 hour 36 minutes. I think with the previous at they would have been in the vicinity of 2 hours. Feel free to have a look at my results over on main
