Just curious to know. Also is it more beneficial to the science to do beta or regular? What would seti folk want most?

It's at (600) 18.18% .. don't look at me like that. I can't help it. ;)

But I am also keeping everything thight, setting all projects I am crunching and not crunching/are offline to NNW. So I just let E@H (400) 12.12%, Seti (500) 15.15% and Beta in when they are out of work.

I would contribute more if the beta test is going to run for a reasonable length of time and the stats were generated so the likes of Boinc Synergy and the other add-ons could generate stats tables.

An update from the devs on the time scales of the beta and the actual differences in the apps we are running would encourage me to contribute more.

As Rom said here:

We released an update to the non-enhanced client yesterday, it had the new ability to display graphics on platforms other than Windows. We were able to release the Mac version of it as well yesterday. We are still working on Linux and Solaris.

The SETI@Home enhanced client is what is being tested in Beta, that client is twice as sensitive to signals as the previous generation of clients. It increases CPU time by roughly 40%. It is not ready to be run in the public project yet. People running it are likely to run into validation errors against those who are running the non-enhanced client.

When the enhanced client is ready, it'll be brought into the public project as a whole new application, and the non-enhanced client will be phased out over the course of a few weeks.

The enhanced client we use here in Beta is based upon an older API, so the graphics on Ati cards don't work. That will be fixed with the next enhanced client.

resource share 100 (7.41%)

I rarely change the share ratio on projects, in fact my only oddball one is CPDN which I have at 250 (18.52%).

I always keep my resource shares at 100, except for the two non-CPU intensive projects. I set those incredibly low so they don't skew my shares.

-Note to dev, institute a change so projects of a non-intensive nature don't associate with resource shares. Just a thought... :)

100% for each project (9 of them). That gave me 11.11% per project. I have to change that now since Pirates is down.

Resource for the beta is 8.33% (2/24). For SETI it's 37.5% (9/24).
The spread among the projects is 90-90-20-20-20 (S@H-E@H-Sbeta-PP-CPDN)

I'm going with 20% Seti Beta and 80% Seti.

I have mine set the same for all projects, including this one. For some odd reason all my projects are 90% instead of 100%. Guess I need to change that someday.

Hi Guys,

Just having a high enough fraction to give me a result to look at now and again is fine.

As a status report, I think we've solved the problem that caused some results to not validate from client to client. I'll be putting out a setiathome_enhanced 4.01 early next week, which should solve the graphics problems and this problem, but run time be more than the 40% increase over the non-enhanced. (The validation problem was that some of the work was getting skipped due to a stupid check for floating point equality. My bad.)
