(Message 37977)
Posted 1 Sep 2009 by Richard U Post: I was just checking through some of my logs and noticed McAfee had picked up a Trojan in ap_graphics_5.03_windows_intelx86.exe from SETIHOME. Artemis!DoEE80903085 It quarantined the file somewhere that my search can’t find. I was hoping to be able to zip it up in case anyone wanted to have a look at it. This version is likely not being used anymore but thought I would let you know. Would be interested as to how it got contaminated. |

Posted 8 May 2009 by Richard U Post: Just to let my wingmen know I have three work units that will take a bit to finish. Had a hard crash and it seems 5.05 doesn't like that much better than the previous versions. They are 2041279, 2041178, and 2041177. I am now averaging about 120 hrs of CPU/unit so it will be about a week which is still well within the deadline period. |

(Message 36125)
Posted 20 Dec 2008 by Richard U Post: Just an observation on AP 5 and BOINC 6.4.5. It survives hard crashes better. Had five over supper hour (Cold in Victoria puts a drain on power) I have two AP units running and they both survived the first 4 crashes. Both reset on the fifth. They were only at 20+% so this won't have too much effect on completion as long as the same doesn't happen tomorrow night. Richard U |

AstroPulse v4.33 Errors and reporting
(Message 34141)
Posted 9 Jul 2008 by Richard U Post: Jim et al OK I have done some testing re the locked files, first with all Boinc files and directories excluded from real time scanning, and then with real time scanning turned off. (Vista/OneCare) The results are consistent in the fact that none of these procedures had any effect on the 'Can't delete previous state file; The system cannot find the file specified. (0x2)' I have 4 applications running at all times and all of these write to the same file, is this what is locking the file and disallowing it's deletion? Or is one of the running apps trying to delete the file while another app has it in a rewrite state? The other concern, is this behaviour causing or adding to any of the errors, both in Seti and AP? |

AstroPulse v4.33 Errors and reporting
(Message 34071)
Posted 1 Jul 2008 by Richard U Post: I run a relatively old version of Symantec Antivirus. I'll see if I can exclude files. These errors look a lot like what I was getting as well. I am also still getting "Can't delete previous state file" and I am running Vista with OneCare. I am not convinced that the issue is not with BOINC not properly closing files but I can never catch the file in a locked state. |

Underclaiming credit?
(Message 34040)
Posted 29 Jun 2008 by Richard U Post: Seems this thread may be the place to pose the following question, and no I am not complaining about credits, it just seems strange. Check 1147111. There are 2 completed tasks that were granted 669.39 credits and a failed task that was granted 1219.34. This is also a good example of Mr.kjellen's issue as well. I claimed 1322.26 credits but because my wingman completed it a quarter of the time I took we both recieved his claim of 669.39. |

(Message 33937)
Posted 18 Jun 2008 by Richard U Post: One of these days I may be able to say I have actually completed my first AP unit. This one exited on a -5 error somewhere around 50% complete. Sorry about that, I forgot I still had some 4.32s running. I have two more sitting at 58% with 130 hours left. Is there still a need to leave them running in case they error out? |
