For me, no. The Screensaver only freaks out (goes to the shutdown screen) when I try to use the BOINC screensaver. I tested several of the ones that come with Windows and had no issues.

I would prefer not to uninstall my Intellipoint software. :-)

Hopefully that is no the only option to fix this.

Could you uninstall them for a couple of hours for a test? This would help to narrow things down.

Ok, uninstalled both Intellipoint and Intellitype, and no no issues. Screensaver runs without incident. So I take it this is some sort of conflict between the two programs.

This seems to be a BOINC 4.25+ problem, yes? Possibly something that can be corrected in the next release or beta version?

I have one or two more things I'm going to try, after that I'm going to contact Microsoft and see if I can get an engineer to tell me how I'm tripping up the Intellitype software.

For the life of me, I cannot see any reason for it.

Thanks, and keep us posted. Hopefully I can get my Intellipoint/Intellitype software back soon. :-)

Oppps, sorry about not posting an update to this, I checked in a fix for this issue into 4.27 for Windows.

Basically the screensaver now ignores the WM_CLOSE message which keeps it from being closed and that in turn keeps explorer from eventually receiving the WM_CLOSE event and shutting itself and Windows down.

Upon further investigation the Intellitype/Intellipoint software will shutdown the default Windows screensavers as well.

Anyways, if you have Intellitype/Intellipoint installed on your system and run the screensaver, a new screensaver display will be displayed every 30 seconds, since Intellitype/Intellipoint will keep closing it down.
