~BUMP~ I just felt like resurecting this thread, as I feel very gratefull with the way the staff and volunteers are handling the everyday occurances at UCB, especially the last COGNET incidence. Ya'll do good work and I for one appreciate it.

::necromance in progress::

For peace & friendship.

I bet many of us remember this thread.

Yes, I remember this thread, it comes from Numbers. It has the one and only alleged message from David Anderson in it. Was it ever confirmed that it was a genuine mail from Dave A?

So, Misfit, have you signed? :-P

I posted an image (now broken) that counted. Apparently any post counted as signing. :)

I never posted in it before today, I found it weird that Bruno Moretti could post a mail with a greeting from Dave A, when he couldn't post on the board himself. If Dave A really were so concerned and grateful, he could have posted to all of us, we were all showing our support those days, some of us more than others.

Did you find my old thread about issuing the same, btw? You can find the link to it in my postlist in my old account, some of the earliest posts.

It's obvious he was responding to a private email. When Bruno asked him if it was OK to post publicly Dr. A gave his permission. By this time he had already moved from SETI@home to BOINC.

Ok, but I stayed out of the thread because of this.

We were many many who carried through those days.

Agreed. I was around in the early days but didn't post much then.

Perhaps we should start a "senior Crunchers" club for those who joined prior to 2001?

Hey we could get a special "5 year" badge!!!!

I can't be in that club, I started in Classic in the summer 2004, and I only crunched 71 WU's there before I finally moved to Seti BOINC. The dates on my accounts are glitches in the database.

But I was around in the early days just after Seti BOINC went public, and I remember how hard it was to get WU's in the beginning and how much people whined about it, as their lives were at stake.

So I'm only a yearling compared to some of you guys.

Well we could make you an "Honorary Member", would that do?

LOL Yes, I'd be honoured! :-D

But I was around the early days here, and I have been a regular in the cafe since December 2004.

Well I did have my tongue in my cheek there but....

We have green stars to say that we have donated, why not red stars for those that have "served" 5 years or more. Almost like campaign medals....

Ok, I'm outta here, no more star discussions for me. Byeeee...
