I installed 4.09 over 4.08 yesterday. I have just had to reboot with ctrl-alt-del (it is now just after 8 am) because the screen was locked up with a pattern of small squares. (AMD XP 2200, 256 M RAM, Win 98SE) Guess I will go back to Classic Seti and wait for 4.10. Kurt Christie |

4.09 seems to work fine for me too. The first version to work for 9 hours continuosly so far. No sign of any problems yet. It's downloaded 3 WU's and finished & uploaded 2. Running Win Me with 256Mb RAM on an AthlonXP 1700. |

I have noted with some consternation that the 4.09 latest update specifically states "Intel x86" as part of it's designation. Since I am running AMD (XP 2200) chipset, would that be the reason I am continuing to have screen lock up problems? If yes, is the situation being addressed? O/S is Win 98SE with 256M RAM. With the inactivity on this board one would think all is now well. I have tried version 4.11 and all went well for a few days. Today, however, I am back to screen lockup, strange monitor patterns, and a hard reboot. Maybe I can find 4.10 somewhere and go back to it since it was fine for numerous days. Kurt Christie At http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php you can download the OFFICIAL RELEASED Windows/x86 4.09 BOINC software ! If you continue to use ß-versions, it is your own fault if your system behaves strange :P IF you still have problems with BOINC 4.09, the chances are high that your problems are not caused by BOINC but by another component of your system. Thank you for the information regarding the Official Release......I was not aware of it and will give it a shot. I am a beta tester for Boinc, albeit seldom. version 4.09 (official release) and CPDN do have a small lockup problem on Win/XP. I believe this is part of the CPDN graphic and BOINC miscommunicating since the CPDN version upgrade. This is the ONLY 4.09 issue I have seen. 4.10/4.11 have similar issues and again, in my option are related. It does require a specific sequence of keystrokes to lockup both the graphic and the CC, however the CC resumes normal processing as soon as the graphic is closed. This information has been reported to the appropriate people for further examination. Umm... this topic is almost two years old. I'd wish it a happy birthday, but we're not quite at August 30th yet. |
