Hi Everyone, I'm new to this so I'm a little confused. I joined a few days ago, downloaded a couple of tasks or chunks to analyze, they're completed, but now they won't upload, they just sit there pending and retrying. Also say someone analyzes a chunk but never uploads the result does that info get lost. I'd hate to be responsible for some important data not getting back to those who need it. I assume the tasks are copies and if aren't signed off with uploaded results the same chunk of data would get sent out to someone else. Thanks for any tips. |

Hi Everyone, And they will continue to do so until Friday morning (Berkeley time). There now is a weekly three-day outage at SETI. See also the front page news and and comments on those. Also say someone analyzes a chunk but never uploads the result does that info get lost. I'd hate to be responsible for some important data not getting back to those who need it. I assume the tasks are copies and if aren't signed off with uploaded results the same chunk of data would get sent out to someone else. Quite right! If a task is not uploaded and reported before its deadline, a new copy is sent out to another host. So, nothing is lost, only the wingmates have to wait a bit longer for their credits to be assigned. :-) Thanks for any tips. You are welcome. And welcome to SETI@home and the boards.
