I am wondering if there are any projects nearing completion? That could do with the assistance of a RTX 2070 running Windows 10

You could speed up the end of the Trailer Thumbnail 2 Crack search at Minecraft@home. Only about 30 days worth of tasks to finish. The 2070 would run quite well there as they use an optimized CUDA application.

I never intended to put them back into service. I only was testing a 970 for the Einstein devs to know whether their new GRP app was working on the Maxwell generation.

I have plenty of newer generation cards in service. No need to use the 970's ever again.

You want to buy any of them?

. . G'day Keith,

. . While I know they are good cards I don't have any machines to put them into, except maybe to replace this one GTX950 :) Besides it would cost more to ship them to OZ than they would cost, or close to it. Actually thinking about it I don't think one of them would even fit in that case :(.

. . I looked online and even used GPUs worth using are going for more than new prices these days because newer cards are so expensive. You could probably get a good few dollars for them :)

. . Keep well

Keith,

Thanks for the PM correspondence, with your info. I went back to MacVidCards, and confirmed
the change in price for Flashing. You are absolutely correct. So, they've changed their price to
Flash a GTX-970.

Just sent you another PM, and I am interested in one of your GTX-970's.

. . Hi TL,

. . You have piqued my curiosity. What is this about flashing the 970 cards? I always like to know what is happening (especially about gear I have myself). If you intend to use it for crunching for Einstein I can recommend it as a good buy. With the new app my 970's are matching the best my 1060's can do. So I think you would be getting better bang for your buck!

Stephen,

In order to get a Boot Screen to show on a Mac System, (above El Capitan), the Card MUST be
Flashed with the proper Mac Boot ROM.

Also, Maxwell and Pascal Cards on Mac REQUIRE Nvidia Web Drivers. (AND, CUDA to Number
Crunch.) I had a PNY GTX-970, Mac Flashed that I bought just about 3 years ago, now... (2.x years....)
I had to give it up for a refurbished 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 System that I put together for my brother. I also
BootCamped the System and had Win 10 Pro x64 on a separate drive for him. The 3,1 can only go up
to MacOS El Capitan on the Mac side of things.

I REALLY want another Mac Flashed GTX-970 on hand as a spare card for my own 3,1 or my 2010 - 5,1
Systems. So, I'm going to buy one of Keith's cards and have it Flashed by MacVidCards.

[EDIT:]

Forgot to mention that Maxwell and Pascal Cards are limited to working from El Capitan to
High Sierra. Above High Sierra, IF you wish to continue using Nvidia Cards, they MUST be of
no later than Kepler in design. (Apple and NVIDIA wars over the past couple years....)

[EDIT 2:]

AND, in El Capitan, only up to Maxwell Cards may be used. For Pascal, you need MacOS
Sierra 10.12.4 or later - up to High Sierra 10.13.6.

I read on the Nebula forum that we could eventually be back in the future, using data from the FAST radiotelescope.

What happened to data colected by the breakthrough listen project?

Is it not suitable for us anymore?

If I remember correctly, Breakthrough Listen is analyzing their data in-house now. No need to ship it out for distributed computing.
They outgrew BOINC.

I think that the Breakthrough Foundation of Yuri Milner is more interested in its prizes assigned to scientists, far more rich than Nobel Prizes. But a Nobel Prize is worth more. I don't think Milner is really interested in searchinf for ETI, like Carl Sagan was.

Shame on Canon for disabling the whole 'all in one" piece of crap just because it's out of ink.
Canon sued for disabling scanner when printers run out of ink

@ Grant and Wiggo,

. . Well the weather is too hot again so I will soon be shutting down. But it has been fun getting the good old Maxwell cards running the new app for E@H. I have been impressed with the results even if no-one else is :)

. . I might be back around Autumn when the thermometers drop enough (if I'm still kickin').

Why buy me a beer when you could more easily just try some of the offerings that come out of my brewroom. ;-)

Cheers.

Out of curiosity has anyone used Nvcleanstall to download and install your Nvidia driver (s)? It allows you to only select the items you want to download instead of having to Download/install everything. As an example you can remove nvdisplaycontainer
