That article was a good history lesson in IC fabrication development.
Don't know what is next. Getting into issues with basic physics and quantum effects.
Article mentions that optonics or light based computing is stagnated and way in the future.

Drones, underground- Mine safety drones.

Technology developed by the CSIRO means areas of mines can now be mapped and inspected without putting people in dangerous situations.
"A couple of years ago, flying a drone in a GPS-denied environment was not even thought of," aerospace engineer Luke Horwood said.
"But now to be able to actually bring them into these environments is really exciting."
Mr Horwood said the most innovative part of the HoverMap scanning technology was its ability to be autonomous.
"Being able to navigate through an environment that might not be great for people to be in, just the drone being able to make decisions on its own in real time."

Like mariners of years gone by, the technology relies on wayfinding, or using fixed points to create a system of coordinates.
"As part of the start-up sequence, the scanner sends out 300,000 laser points per second to get an idea of the environment," Mr Horwood said.
"It means if the drone loses contact with the driver, it goes back to a waypoint to find its way home."

now that is the stuff that makes drones really useful.

A very good article from AnandTech looking at the problems of multi-core CPUs and how they're dealt with & why a particular topology may be used over another.

I'm quite surprised that no one has so far yet come up with a dual sided single memory stick and socket that supports dual channels.

Now that would help things out and free up limited mobo real estate.

Cheers.

DDR5 supports dual channels on a single module.
They also have onboard voltage regulators as well as on die ECC to help with bit errors (these are still standard DIMMS, not ECC memory. ECC DDR5 DIMMs will have extra data lines to the CPU for error reporting & correction) on these larger & larger memory modules (eventually up to 2TB on a single DIMM is possible under the new standard and manufacturing nodes).

Not happy with your storage performance? Then how about using a GPU Software RAID solution? GRAID SupremeRAID SR-1000
While it's read speeds are excellent, it's how well it writes where it truly stands out.
