I saw a review for Ortho Weed AND GRASS Killer Ground Clear complaining that it killed their grass. Not only is it in the name, but it has a warning on the label, "WARNING: KILLS GRASS". |

You always see plenty of bad reviews about, but most of them are from people who don't have a bloody clue and refuse to read the instructions and specs. :-( |

AMD says transistor tech will keep Moore’s law alive for 6 to 8 years Chipmaker AMD has hinted that new transistor technology will keep Moore's Law alive for the next six to eight years, but as one might guess, it will cost more. Meanwhile, the company still plans to market new chips based on its Zen 4 architecture next year, including Bergamo, which is intended to compete against Arm-based chips for cloud-native computing. In an interview with Wells Fargo analyst Aaron Rakers at the financial outfit's TMT Summit, AMD CTO Mark Papermaster talked about future directions and the company's near-term roadmap. |

Scientists Have Blown Away the Internet Speed Record With an Optical Chip. In new research, scientists have blown the roof off conventional telecommunications with a chip that can send nearly twice the amount of traffic as the entire internet in a single second—setting the speed record for data transmission. The researchers say that just one light source and one optical chip can work together to produce a “frequency comb” capable of eye-watering data transmission speeds. How can the same tiny collection of raw materials, namely silicon—what we already have in our home computers and infrastructure—produce such higher speeds?....Cheers. |

Thanks for the feedback. Apologies for the very late reply. Asteroids reminds me of Seti in a way because it has some tasks to run for a matter of seconds and others that run for a long period of time up to 15 minutes or so. Only thing is I haven't worked out how to distinguish fast Workunit over a slow one, unless I see a processing all see at my task list after it has been processed. ![]() |

3-5-2023 at 11:53 AM - PST This is for any DISH Network customer whom has made use of the DISH Network OTA Adapter.... Can ANY Digital OTA Antenna work with the DISH Network OTA Adapter for the Hopper3, (or Hopper2/Hopper1/Wally), or do I need a specific Digital OTA Antenna? I've just purchased the DISH Network OTA Adapter, and, now, am in the market for an EXCELLENT receiving Digital Antenna. I live in an area SURROUNDED by hills, in the SF East Bay. (Tri-Valley area. (San Ramon, Danville, Alamo....)) Due to the recent hiccup between MeTV, (National Channel 247 on DISH), and DISH Network, we NO LONGER are receiving MeTV. MeTV CAN be had locally, OTA with a decent to excellent Digital OTA Antenna.... However; I want to make sure that my Digital OTA Antenna choice WILL ACTUALLY work with the DISH Network OTA Adapter for the Hopper3 that we have. Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated. :-) NOTE: Local MeTV in my area is via KTLN Channel 68.2 HD. I'm currently unsure if my 'HILLY' area will be able to pick up KTLN even with an EXCELLENT Digital OTA Antenna, BUT I'm willing to try. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! A very interesting article on how computers do math, and why they do it the way they do. Number Representations in Computer Hardware Grant Darwin NT |

It's been a few years since i had to replace my systems (both died following Cyclone Marcus back in 2018). While very good at the time (a pair of i7 8700Ks), their boost clock is less than most base clocks these days. The Ryzen 7000 series are an excellent stable product, with great power efficiency, along with all the motherboards & BIOSes being well developed & stable, and RAM and NAND prices have had some big drops over the last few months. But for some time now there have been the odd reports/rumours about Zen 5, all of them promising great things. And now there is a new article, quoting one of those involved with the development of the Zen architecture- Keller claimed that Ascalon will provide market-leading integer performance-per-watt, and predicted that Zen 5 will be 30 percent faster than Zen 4 in integer workloads. If that turns out to be accurate, it will be an impressive update, given that Zen 4 already delivered a 15 percent gain over Zen 3.While in the past all the major CPU/GPU manufacturers have made great claims of amazing increases in performance for new products that turned out to be more hope & fantasy than reality, but over the last few years AMD have delivered on those claims. So i'm planning on saving up for a while longer yet, and will see if AMD can do it again. Father of AMD's Zen architecture says Zen 5 will offer massive performance gains. Grant Darwin NT |

You'll be forever waiting for the next new giant leap in function and performance... As progress continually skips and leaps on ahead... The best time to buy tech is the week before you need/want it (but not at Thanksgiving or Christmas)!! Now happens to be a good time to buy due to the oversupply of memory chips and their dip in prices. Enjoy a new machine!
