Greetings, Hey guys and gals. I know some of you are running SETI on the Raspberry Pi. I found one thread here asking for help, but it's not the kind of help I need. Here goes... 1.) Hardware: Raspberry Pi 3 B+, 5" LCD Display connected directly to the Pi via the GPIO connector and HDMI connector, power from the Pi. 2.) OS......: Raspbian Updated, not sure how to find the version. 3.) BOINC...: Version 7.6.33 installed via the terminal command "sudo apt-get install boinc". When trying to attach to SETI I get the "Choose a project" window with a short list of "categories" to choose from. The list is not project names. I assumed that if I select a "category" I would get a list of projects for that category. I don't. It either says that there may not be any work, do it anyway, or it just tries to add a project. One category was quake the other something about acoustics. So, my question is this: Is there a way to see the actual project names so I can get SETI running? Or am I missing something? I went by a tutorial on the Internet. All went fine until I tried to add a project. Any help or direction to help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I would just input the project URL directly for the project you want to run. Seti = http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I would just input the project URL directly for the project you want to run. Hi Keith, I think I tried that and it wouldn't take any input from the keyboard. The keyboard does work on the Pi. I'm about to run to the store and the Pi is shut down for now. I'll try it when I get back. Thanks for the suggestion. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Greetings, I tried to manually enter the URL into the add project window and it will not accept keyboard input. The keyboard and mouse are working, I tested the keyboard in a text editor. I suppose I can attempt to do a command line attach to SETI. I just need to know if this will work even though I'm using the GUI. Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Greetings, EUREKA! I got my RasPi attached to SETI@Home! Here it is. I found instructions on how to access the Pi from my desktop BOINC manager. I got the Pi set up and rebooted, then connected through this PC and voila. Perseverance pays off in glorious ways! :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Greetings, I am really, really, really liking my new Raspberry Pi! :) In less than a week it's almost tripled the RAC of my Android tablet. They're both running the same Arm processor, but the Pi is 2 revisions ahead. I now have access to the Pi via Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 10. Raspian, the terminal, Nano, everything looks so much better (and bigger) on my 27in monitor. The little 5 incher just does not cut it. It's good for getting the Pi started in the beginning, getting the OS installed and other configs. I now have a cooling solution on my Pi. It's an open sided case with a tiny little fan powered off the GPIO connector. The temp is maintaining a low 40 C, running 2 WUs. I'm trying to figure out a GUI temp monitor program. I have a Python script that gets the temp every second (can be reduced to every 10, 15, 20 seconds...), but it displays the temp on a new line. I WILL figure this out. :) That's it for now, have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Take a look for 'Psensor' for GUI graphing of temps. It should work on PI. EDIT: a sudo apt-get install psensor should get it for you (I think) |

Take a look for 'Psensor' for GUI graphing of temps. It should work on PI. Thanks Brent, I'll check it out. What I found that is so COOL is that I can do a copy from here in Windows and do the paste in the Remote desktop for my Pi. :) Have a great day! :) Siran [edit] Psensor is running, but there are no graphs, just the numbers. [/edit] [edit2] I Googled Psensor and found that there are 2 dependencies and 1 optional one. They do not seem to have anything to do with the graphs, they're just to get HDD temps, fan speeds and such. There's hardly a HDD on my Pi. ;) I'll continue to do some Googling. :) [/edit2] CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Right click on the sensor (i.e. CPU) then preferences. Select "Draw Sensor Curve" You can rename them too, if you want. You can set poll times (say 5 sec) and graph duration as well. |

Right click on the sensor (i.e. CPU) then preferences. That's a no go Brent. They were already selected. I did change the pole times though. Have a great day! :) Siran [edit] Something I have noticed is that the text portion is on the left and it is supposed to be on the right as per the preferences. Did my installation get hosed somehow? What temperatures and/or info shows up with numbers? Valid numbers :) Run this again and note the missing dependencies. lm-sensors should be one, but it you have the number, it should graph. hddtemp, nahh :D sudo apt-get install psensor |

I just installed it on my linux machine and the graph portion was "closed" I had to drag the bar on the left towards the middle and the graph was revealed |

Thanks Bernie, that explains why his text is on the left side. |

Thanks Bernie, that explains why his text is on the left side. Yep, it sure did. I dragged to the right and there was the graph. Should say that somewhere, nothing I found when Googling mentioned that. I only have the CPU temp and Free memory numbers. Don't have a HDD. So, should I install the first dependency you mentioned and reinstall Psensor? Thanks Brent and Bernie! :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? I'm not sure what is normal for the Pi to display. I'm sure beyond CPU Use, Mem, CPU Temp, not much is there to read, - because, well there isn't much there LMAO. Just type "sensors" on the command line and it should show you what it knows now. You can try and see if more sensors are found: sudo sensors-detect (Just keep answering 'Yes' until it asks if you want to update a file (if it finds more). Install it if needed: sudo apt-get install It also needs lmsensors and will likely tell you so if it's not already there - I think it is. |

Hi Brent, I tried the sensors and sensor-detect commands using sudo and I was told there was no command to run, so... I just installed lm-sensors and did "sudo sensors-detect" (without the quotes) and no sensors were found. I would assume that lm-sensors would not be required for the Pi. Correct? That begs the question: where does Psensor find sensors for the CPU temp and free memory? Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. sensors-detect .. detected no sensors, or no new sensors? Psensors uses lm-sensors to detect known sensors in a system. And likely a few other tricks for known hardware types. Rasbian(?) likely has its own way of checking hardware since it is designed for running on a known device. I did see the other day that temp wasn't stored in a normal way (or file name) on Pi, but apparently it is known enough to be read by Psensors. I don't have one so it's hard for me to know, or play with. Hal might know, he has a stack of them running here http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=83520&postid=1967471 |

sensors-detect .. detected no sensors, or no new sensors? Hi Brent, Sensors-detect detects no sensors. This is what it shows me: # sensors-detect revision 6284 (2015-05-31 14:00:33 +0200) # Kernel: 4.14.79-v7+ armv7l # Processor: ARMv7 Processor rev 4 (v7l) (//) This program will help you determine which kernel modules you need to load to use lm_sensors most effectively. It is generally safe and recommended to accept the default answers to all questions, unless you know what you're doing. Some south bridges, CPUs or memory controllers contain embedded sensors. Do you want to scan for them? This is totally safe. (YES/no): y modprobe: FATAL: Module cpuid not found in directory /lib/modules/4.14.79-v7+ Failed to load module cpuid. Silicon Integrated Systems SIS5595... No VIA VT82C686 Integrated Sensors... No VIA VT8231 Integrated Sensors... No AMD K8 thermal sensors... No AMD Family 10h thermal sensors... No AMD Family 11h thermal sensors... No AMD Family 12h and 14h thermal sensors... No AMD Family 15h thermal sensors... No AMD Family 16h thermal sensors... No AMD Family 15h power sensors... No AMD Family 16h power sensors... No Intel digital thermal sensor... No Intel AMB FB-DIMM thermal sensor... No Intel 5500/5520/X58 thermal sensor... No VIA C7 thermal sensor... No VIA Nano thermal sensor... No Lastly, we can probe the I2C/SMBus adapters for connected hardware monitoring devices. This is the most risky part, and while it works reasonably well on most systems, it has been reported to cause trouble on some systems. Do you want to probe the I2C/SMBus adapters now? (YES/no): y Sorry, no supported PCI bus adapters found. Sorry, no sensors were detected. Either your system has no sensors, or they are not supported, or they are connected to an I2C or SMBus adapter that is not supported. If you find out what chips are on your board, check http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Devices for driver status. I just noticed that is states above that it could no load "cpuid". Hopefully Hal can chime in on this. You found his post that I tried to find before. All I could find was a post with pics that raymate posted in this thread. Anyway, those sensors listed above don't seem to have any kind of association with my Pi. How is something uninstalled when using the terminal to install a program? The Linux I've used in the past, on a "real PC" ;) had a... dang, can't remember what it was called, oh yeah package manager which if memory serves, could be used to uninstall something installed with it. This is in case I Google something specific to the Pi to replace Psensor. Thanks for the help you have given, Brent, and have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. You have likely already found this but https://elinux.org/RPI_vcgencmd_usage The output that sensors-detect is putting out looks like intel/AMD/nvidia/ATI info, not ARM info. OBW if you run a PI hot, it will put a thermometer icon in the upper right of the HDMI connected display. IIRC above 80C. Somewhere above that temp it will throttle the chip speed. $ sudo cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq |

Greetings, Just what is wrong with this picture?: Number of tasks completed 32 Max tasks per day 67 Number of tasks today 0 Consecutive valid tasks 34 Average processing rate 5.65 GFLOPS Average turnaround time 1.90 days How can I have more consecutive valid tasks than the number of tasks completed?
