Is it normal for a failed project communication request to stall out any other projects request to connect?

Right now GPUGrid.net is unreachable. When I started BOINC up and it tried to connect to all my projects, the first in line was GPUGrid. That request stalls out and prevents any of my other projects from connecting until the failed GPUGrid connection finally times out and relinquishes the connection services to my other projects which then can finally connect.

Has this always been the case? That a connection to a project that cannot complete prevents any other project from connecting until it times out?

There can only be one scheduler request 'in progress' at a time, yes. I think it's so that incoming data from two different projects doesn't end up in the same buffer.

GPUGrid is back up.

Thanks for the answer Richard. The GPUGrid request was really hampering the connection to Seti and I was able to upload but not report for a half hour because of GPUGrid locking out the other projects. So my cache fell considerably in that time. It wasn't until the progressive connection backoffs for GPUGrid got to a half-hour that my projects could request work.

See the rather fuller reply I posted to the second copy of this complaint you posted on the BOINC development boards.

I confess I didn't remember posting to the development boards on the project request stalls. Could you please post the link cause I can't find it. Thanks.
