1809 DID NOT Update the Intel HD-630 Driver as it DID Observe and Preserve my Restriction Settings to NOT Update 3rd Party Drivers. My bad, I was under the impression that you were running Win 10 and not Darwin, finally figured out which machine you were talking about. So, with the Intel drivers moving to DCH, will you still be able to update your drivers with future builds or are you stuck at this build? I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

1809 DID NOT Update the Intel HD-630 Driver as it DID Observe and Preserve my Restriction Settings to NOT Update 3rd Party Drivers. Yes, my two Primary Systems are MacOS - Darwin... Dad's System, (Farragut), IS Win 10 Pro x64 and IS on Intel Driver 23.20.16.4973 NEO. Farragut currently has ALL THREE "Hacks" in place to block Win 10 Pro x64 from Updating 3rd Party Drivers. Dad's System is an i7 7700 System with 16GB Corsair Vengeance CL-14 2400MHz DDR4 RAM. The 23.20.16.4973 NEO Driver, (Installed by MS), is reserving 6.5GB DDR4 System RAM for the Intel HD-630 GPU. The three "Hacks" in place are 1.) Registry Hack, 2.) Group Policy Hack, and 3.) ??? I don't remember, it was listed about a month ago in the first Win 10 Yea or Nea Thread. (This one I can't remember was the first Hack I put in place.) [EDIT:] Farragut, (dad's Win 10 Pro x64 System: i7 7700), is Computer ID: 7066606 - 16GB DDR4 RAM, using Intel HD-630 to Crunch. Andromeda, (Hackintosh, i7 7700K, Darwin 17.7.0), is Computer ID: 7952666 - has 32GB Corsair Vengeance CL-14 2400MHz DDR4 RAM and is using NVIDIA GPUs to Crunch. Daedalus, (Mac Pro 5,1, Dual Xeon 2.4GHz, Darwin 17.7.0), is Computer ID: 8508902 - 64GB ECC DDR3 RAM from iBuildMacs.com, One EVGA GTX-1050 2GB GPU, (Crunching), One ATI HD-5770 NOT Crunching. What has that got to do with Windows 10?With your constant M$ bashing, it just proves a MAJOR point that NO O/S is flawless. |

What has that got to do with Windows 10? About as much as your posts pushing LINUX have. Grant Darwin NT |

What has that got to do with Windows 10? Hi Grant, I have yet to see where Martin is "pushing Linux" anywhere in this thread. He posts about Windows 10 which is what this thread is about. So what if he has a tagline that says: "IT is what you make IT." That's not pushing Linux neither are his signature links to Linux distros. Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Greetings, I kept seeing something called "Your Phone" in Internet data usage. I went into the Apps section of settings and lo and behold, there was an app called "Your Phone". I don't need broken junk I don't use accessing the Internet on their own so I googled removing it. I found a way... Run Windows Power Shell as administrator. Enter this line and hit enter: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage Just in case you may be a bit apprehensive about using the above command, here's the website where I found it. The app gets uninstalled in seconds. Woohoo! Saved a bit of bandwidth there. Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of more bandwidth wasting junky Micro$oft junk. ;) Your Phone was added to v1809 Windows 10. It is not fully functional yet; it's a work in progress as stated on the website above. Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of more bandwidth wasting junky Micro$oft junk. ;) ...I just saw a YouTube video last night about a powershell de-bloating script for Win10 available at sourceforge. Didn't copy the links since I don't have Windows 10, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. If you can't find it let me know and I'll search my YouTube history. |

Hi Halfempty, I'll do some googling to see what I can find. I haven't gotten around to it yet. ;) Thanks for the info! :) I'd really like to get rid of Cortana, but they have it so tightly woven into search that if you do, you break search. There's also something on the apps data usage page called Micro$oft Content. You hover on it and it says "Micro$oft Content". Really helpful that is. What the frack does Micro$oft have to hide? More garbage I suspect. I have googled that and have not found anything substantial yet. Oh well... ;) Cool cat! :) Have a great day! :) Siran [edit] I just noticed your message number: 1979797. Greetings, This is for all Windows 10 users that want to remove the Micro$oft bloat and bandwidth wasters from your PC(s). I hit the mother lode on this one. This website has a long list of commands to be used in Windows PowerShell. PowerShell must be run as Administrator. The website does not mention this, unfortunately. Fortunately, I learned from experience when I went to remove "Your Phone". Also, it is recommended that you do not remove the "Store" or "Store Purchase" apps. You will no longer be able to install anything from Micro$oft's store. Have fun and have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Greetings, Well, I got rid of quite a few pieces of bloat/bandwidth wasters. These are the ones: PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsFeedbackHub* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.ZuneMusic* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Messaging* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *OneNote* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.MSPaint* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.People* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Print3D* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.XboxApp* | Remove-AppxPackage PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.XboxSpeechToTextOverlay* | Remove-AppxPackage I then proceeded to attempt a Micro$oft Edge removal too. This is the results I got from 2 different sites, one of them being Micro$oft: remove-appxpackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CFA, Removal failed. Please contact your software vendor. Why won't Micro$oft allow us to uninstall Edge if they're dropping development of it anyway? Who knows. I used PowerShell as Administrator! I checked "Turn Windows Features on or off" in Control Panel and Edge is not there. I will continue to google this and see what I might find. I did see where a third party app could be used to uninstall Edge, but I am apprehensive to go that route since the site I found it on I have never been to before. It did have the same uninstall procedure as the Micro$oft site had. Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Found the video I was mentioning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4ziE5Am0pM In the description is a link to the powershell script. Since you are familiar with PS commands you can probably edit it to your liking and save a bunch of typing. From what I have seen Cortana is relatively simple to disable in Win10 Pro, but impossible in the Home version without breaking stuff. Pro also gives you a little more flexibility with updates. When the time comes and I have to bite the bullet on 10, I'm going to spend the extra $$ and splurge on Pro so I can have a little more control. Glad you like my avatar, that was a lucky picture of one of my cats. They usually don't like it when I point a camera at them and run away. Also thanks for pointing out the message number, that is cool :-) |

Found the video I was mentioning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4ziE5Am0pM Hi Halfempty, I am far from being familiar with PS commands. This is the first I have used it. I usually use cmd.exe because it is so much like MSDOG of yesteryear. I'll check the script though and see what I can see. I have Win 10 Pro and did not pay a dime for it. I installed it and then used my Win7 Pro key to activate it. Mark Sattler (s), the kitty man, has a cool avatar of his cats too. They're looking out the door at a rabbit, I think it is. Did you know that people don't own cats, that cats own people? lol :D Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. This is from Saturday 24th June 1995: Depends on what you mean by "progress" and what context. :) I will say that some distributions of Linux have gotten a whole lot more "user friendly". At the least the Ubuntu/Lubuntu versions (the only ones I have any experience with) but Windows still has a lock on total number of users installed. Windows continues to have the image of "Ease of use" and gasp "reliability" when M$ doesn't screw it up. I always run at least 1 Windows/Seti box because I can't seem to get what appear to be perfectly good Web browsers under Linux to work on some of the Websites they have to be able to work on (like my bank). I installed a Virtual Linux SuSE Leap 1.5 on a Windows 10 PC Home edition 1809 since it is not upgraded as frequently as the 1803 version I have on my latest PC with a Ryzen CPU and a GTX 1060 board. Then I accepted a SuSE update and found myself with the Tumbleweed version of SuSE Linux, whih is a development version. I did not get any warning from SuSE. Don't blame only Microsoft. Tullio |

I always run at least 1 Windows/Seti box because I can't seem to get what appear to be perfectly good Web browsers under Linux to work on some of the Websites they have to be able to work on (like my bank). Your bank, mine too, want to use the extra UN-security features of M$ web browsers because they can then report they are using the "state of the art best features" to any regulator that asks. That and their own internal XP systems work well with it. Don't know if this is still an issue, but back in the wild west days I remember some web browsers could not support long crypto keys because they were considered weapons of war and could not be exported. I don't know if that nonsense has ended yet or if there is some such crap that prevents a Linux freeware to the world browser from having the crypto banks require. |
