This one will do better in "Number Crunching" - the cafe is a place of "rest, quiet and amusement". Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Hello all, What is the settings for wait before crunching set to? I think by default it's set to 5 minutes. Meaning no mouse movement or keyboard for 5 minutes before BOINC starts up. Might want to check that setting. ![]() ![]() |

Hello all, You can also set it up so the Gpu is suspended when you are active but the cpu keeps crunching. If you then set the % of cores used to say 90% or on smaller core count machines 75% that will allow "most" non-Seti processing to run at "full speed" while you are still doing some Seti crunching. I am not certain about game playing however since I don't play games on any of my boxes. Apparently the default is 3 minutes (just checked one of my Windows boxes). And sometimes I have had to use the "suspend gpu" when active setting because of screen lag issues. Another thing you can do to help make Seti "get out of the way" is set the "suspend Seti when non-Seti tasks on the cpu exceed" % to a low enough number to allow Seti to not impact whatever you are doing in terms of non-Seti activity. Disabling the intel GPU from crunching and using that output to drive you video will provide the most work done, with no impact on general use even if the system is processing at all times. Hell, even is using the addon video card output, just disabling the Intel GPU from crunching is the best thing you could do for any system. Grant Darwin NT |
