Hi All I wanted to install BOINC on a new Linux machine, but boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php is not answering..... I told a currently operating machine to update the app, but it couldn't get through either . Is this just a temporary thing or have they moved the app download site ? Is there an alternative download site anywhere ? I've been out of circulation for a while, so am unaware what the latest happenings are. TIA T.A. |

Why not just use TBar's "All-In-One" special sauce setup, http://www.arkayn.us/lunatics/BOINC.7z, as it contains a revised version of BOINC already to go. ;-) [edit] Here are 2 threads with more info and where help can be had. Setting up Linux to crunch CUDA90 and above for Windows users High performance Linux clients at SETI Cheers. |

The BOINC server failed on Friday and has been offline and unavailable since. Supposedly the staff will be able to replace it on Monday. For a new Linux host, the suggested All-in-One BOINC/application installer is the best choice. Well that didn't help much.... :( Downloaded, unzipped, tried to fire up, had to edit "run_manager" to suit local system, it stopped straight away complaining it couldn't find "libjbig.so.0" Downloaded libjbig.so from distro repository, it still can't find it.... Blow it, I've been up all night and need some sleep. I'll play with it later.... Why isn't anything ever less than difficult ???? T.A. |

If you read the notes in /DOCS in the AIO installer, it tells you what distros are compatible. Covers everything from 14.04 to 18.10. Won't work on anything newer than 18.10. I don't ever remember seeing a missing dependency on "libjbig.so.0" What distro are you trying? I don't ever remember seeing a missing dependency on "libjbig.so.0" PCLinuxOS, the latest version, kernel is 4.16.13. Usually I have no problem, I've run BOINC previously on a number of computers with the same OS. Permissions are correct, I think I'm going to have to link it ./boincmgr: error while loading shared libraries: libjbig.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory T.A. |
