I have not seen any discussion on the new "super" range from Nvidia, I know the details are sparse but seem to suggest a RTX 2060-S,2070-S and 2080-S Nvidia RTX Super rumors The interesting thing is they will apparently "push down" the prices of the existing RTX 20XX range. Apparently some think it is a shot at the new AMD Navi cards due soon. Wonder when we will see the first one here at SETI ;-) |

I hope the distinction for the card would be identifiable, like the Ti variants. Seti@home classic: 1,456 results, 1.613 years CPU time |

It's looking like they'll be pretty much as I expected- slightly better clock speed, a few more CUDA cores. Oh, and higher prices than the current models. Interestingly the RTX 2060 Super may get extra RAM, and make full use of the memory bus giving it a significant boost in performance compared to the RTX 2060, but the performance boost of the other cards over their current model, for the price, would be barely worth it IMHO. Even so, that may not matter- there are some rumours that the current models will eventually cease to exist, with the exception of the RTX 2060 & the RTX 2080Ti. The new Super models becoming in the new base model of that type. All in all, it just looks like something to impinge on AMDs new releases, but nothing of any great substance. Latest noises- Amazon listing exposes GeForce RTX Super cards due July 9. With luck, we should know one way or the other by the end of the this week, beginning of the next. Grant Darwin NT |

Good to know these are coming. I was looking to upgrade to an RTX series. Guess i should wait a bit longer for price drops on the first generation. :) Same here! I was looking to upgrade from my 1060 6gb to something like 2, 1660TI's or 1, 2070 and add another 2070 down the road. I think I will wait until Super launches and see how the sales are around black friday and christmas to upgrade. Many people have ragged on the 1660TI but for us crunchers I think it would be a great card. ![]() All of this has happened before and will happen again -Battlestar Galactica |

From what I read the 1660Ti is an amazing card for crunching here on Seti. From a credit per Watt-Hour. I was just looking at 2060s, and they had them on a decent sale the other day. The 1660Ti just kept coming back to me because I have to be frugal on power meter. Fun times to be had on GPUs this Summer. |

Of all the upcoming "Super" cards, the most improvement and bang for the buck is going to be the 2060 Super with a bump in both memory capacity from 6GB to 8GB and an increase in the memory bandwidth from 192bit to 256bit that matches the higher stack cards. It also has the greatest bump in SM counts compared to the rest of the "Supers". The official news is out! Now, will there be an RTX 2070 out there cheap or do I go for the Super? https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/geforce-rtx-20-series-super-gpus/ Roger ![]() |

I'm not seeing any "cheap" RTX 2070's yet. Still have the old prices. If the RTX 2060 Super is actually going to be available for its listed $399 MSRP price, it would be the better value. based on the posted specs, the 2060 super will be the new king of bang for buck/watt. should be just a hair slower than a 2070 (2 less SMs) and at a lower price point. $400 vs $500 (base MSRP) you can still buy used 2070s pretty cheap. I bought nearly all of my 2070s for $400-450 including shipping from ebay or reddit, which is a great buy in my mind. I just picked up another for $410 including shipping. Buy a card that carries a transferable warranty, like EVGA brand. they basically moved all the cards up to the next teir, in terms of the reference PCB. 2060 Super is now on the 2070 reference PCB 2070 Super is now on the 2080 reference PCB 2080 Super is probably the same (2080 and 2080ti are very similar boards already, many waterblocks fit both) and TDP numbers have moved with them. 2060S now at 175W, 2070S now at 215W, and 2080S now at 250W. also, even though the 2080S only got a 2SM bump (as opposed to the 4SM bump on the 2060S/2070S) it also got a boost in memory clock from 14Gbps to 15.5Gbps. Anthony of Linux Tech Tips compares an RTX 2060 Super with an RTX 2070 Super and the non-Super versions, including the RTX 2080: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnEPBcCkM2Y Base line is, you can compare the RTX 2070 Super with the RTX 2080, but at a cheaper price. |

And I'm going to echo one the commenters posts . . . . . "I just got the latest Nvidia ca- AAAAAAND IT'S OBSOLETE. " thanks Nvidia... Should have figured the recent EVGA special deal was to blow out all the old RTX 2070 stock because they knew the RTX 2070 Supers were coming. What I didn't realize that the video told me was that the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 are now discontinued. I thought they were just going to move down the price point in the product stack. Should have figured Nvidia never reduces its profit margin on any of their products just to maintain market share. Annand Tech have a review of the new series of cards. The GeForce RTX 2070 Super & RTX 2060 Super Review: Smaller Numbers, Bigger Performance I'm very happy with the performance of my RTX 2060, so i'm hoping that the new AMD cards will put pressure on Nvidia, and I can get another RTX 2060 or 2 at a good price to replace my GTX 750Tis. Edit- if the prices settle down a bit, the RTX 2060 Super would be a very tempting buy- very impressive performance for a GTX xx60 model card. Grant Darwin NT |

Anthony of Linux Tech Tips... Glad to see another Anthony fan :P Love that guy! @Grant Why RTX? Aren't the new 1660s a better deal? For Seti obviously... (It's been a while since I visited Shaggie's charts, so that may be a dumb question) |

I am enjoying seeing AMD put pressure on both Intel & Nvidia. Reminds me of Google Fiber coaxing Comcast to start providing 1Gbit service of its own. ~ Life's short; make fun of it. User ID: 39750; SETI@home member since: 5 May 1999; Classic workunits: 5,851; Classic CPU time: 108,169 hours |

Yeah, just my typo highlighted there, I know he's called Linus, but finger memory always writes Linux. 😔😞 |

@Grant Why RTX? Aren't the new 1660s a better deal? For Seti obviously... Here's the most recent chart, and you'll see why the RTX 2060. The RTX 1660Ti is about on par with my existing GTX 1070s. I figured if I was going to replace my GTX 750Tis, the replacement should be better than my present best cards. And while the 1660Ti leads on efficiency (and the RTX 2060 isn't a slouch in that regard) the RTX 2060 pumps out quite a bit more work. ![]() Grant Darwin NT |

However, the RTX 2060 Super has an increased TDP by about 15 watts. I am curious to see what the credit/watt-hour is for the Super compared to the standard 2060 (and 2070). I don’t expect the shift to be huge, but I am not sure if it will move left or right on the chart. If the Super cards do not have a differentiation from the standard cards (as far as what Shaggie can obtain with is code) we may never know what that difference is.@Grant Why RTX? I suspect it should actually get a good bump over the RTX 2060; the clock speed nudge will help a bit, but the extra memory bandwidth will probably provide the bigger boost. Here we go- Annandtech's compute benchmarks showed the RTX 2060 super to be roughly on par with the RTX 2070 (ahead for some, behind for some, but only by the smallest amounts in either case). Quite a step up from the RTX 2060's results. Grant Darwin NT |
