I'm new and I don't know if I am posting this in the right place so pardon me if I'm not and please move it if it's in the wrong place. Thanks. I see that Fedora Linux is orphaned when it comes to being supported by AMD. Ubuntu and other Linux distros are supported. I understand Fedora is bleeding edge so I have to accept that. However I do have two nice science grade AMD Radeon wx 5100 Pro GFX cards installed I could be using for the Seti@home and, plus I really want to write OpenCL code for my own projects. So, I thought to ask if anyone has experience in manually installing the latest and greatest AMD drivers and libraries into Fedora. It is best to ask first and die trying later in my opinion. It's silly that for Fedora only OpenCL 1.1 is available and Seti@home, I understand, doesn't use OpenCL 1.1 it uses OpenCl 1.2 So anyone? |

Hey! I asked Fedora Forum a ways back. Crickets. I was hopeful someone here had experience. Still hopeful. Also Shaming AMD into support for Fedora distro comes to mind. |

I think you can probably count the number of Fedora users here in the forums on both hands. Majority are Ubuntu users. I would say the published knowledge resource for Ubuntu is . . . . . 100X ? greater than for Fedora. So probably can find the answer to almost every question in the Ubuntu fora. At least I have. YMMV. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours ![]() ![]() A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |
