Ive got Boinc manager 7.14.2 (x64) - WIN 10 PC. Is there a way to FORCE boinc to update itself (the main progamme). Ive checked the ABOUT area & ive got the latest version. PROBLEM 1: This morning I had 10+ tasks remaining, but Im only processing 1 task (normally i process 5 tasks at a time). Ive had it set to NOT download more tasks. I changed it to download more & ive got 100+ tasks (hard to count)... But now i'm processing 5 tasks at a time... I dont care if ive only got 5 tasks in the queue - I want it to keep processing 5 tasks every minute until theres no other tasks left.. Is there a way to diagnose WHY it is (or was) processing only 1 task ? PROBLEM 2: I noticed this - this morning, before i allowed more downloads. Yesterday i could sort the tasks - by progress, project, status etc or any of the other columns. But this morning & now - I press the titles to sort, but nothing happens - It wont re-organise/sort itself. ![]() |

Is there a way to FORCE boinc to update itself (the main progamme). Ive checked the ABOUT area & ive got the latest version. With the Manager in the advanced view, in the Project tab, select Seti, then click on Update. PROBLEM 1: This morning I had 10+ tasks remaining, but Im only processing 1 task (normally i process 5 tasks at a time). Ive had it set to NOT download more tasks. Not easily. The way you have your system set up to work with CPU thread & usage limits, cache settings, no reserved threads for GPU processing and making use of you iGPU as well as the addon GPU, and setting & Un-setting No New Tasks combined with the limits on when BOINC can and can't process tasks along with the number of hours in a day when the system is running will result in odd behaviour as it tries to meet all the conflicting requirements. EDIT- Keep in mind, tasks allocated to the iGPU, can only be processed by it. Tasks allocated to the CPU can only be processed by it. Task allocated to the addon GPU can only be processed by it. If you stop new work from being downloaded, as each of those processors finishes any work allocated to it, it will then sit there unused; the work still left to be done by the other resources won't be transferred over to the ones now without any work. Seems to be fixed. Went back to simple view - then back to advanced view. I am now able to sort by each column. ![]() |

It looks like you could run just the Nvidia gpu and the cpus and get more production and/or higher RAC. Usually processing Boinc tasks on an Intel internal GPU slows the entire system down. Once Intel starts shipping that newer gpu design they are working on, all bets are off till it gets tested. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |
