Just came in to see the daily driver 3900X rig at the BIOS entry screen with a message saying the thermal threshold had been exceeded. So I guess that 80°C. is the thermal limit for all-core computing. So knocked the multiplier down from 41 to 40 and will try again. I hope things improve with the transplant into the custom loop cooling rig later this morning after some sleep.

I’ve got a Ryzen 3600 that replaced a Ryzen 1700. Three more on order.

Excellent.

First Ryzen 3600 is here
Second Ryzen 3600 is this one

The Ryzen 1700’s seem to have topped out with a RAC of 75,600 so that’s what these machine need to beat. The GPUs were moved from the old machines into the new ones and the OS is the same setup I use on all of them.

I replaced an I7 4790K with a Ryzen 3900X, see thread here
But am now back to the 4790K until I get my AMD motherboard replaced via RMA.

So far the 3900X looks impressive and I was happy with the increase I saw to my SETI processing.

Thinking of updating my case/cooling for the 3900X when I get it back, which means for another power supply, i could keep the 4790K going a while longer.

I wanted to re-fresh the Seti@Home head count of Ryzen 3000 cpus. I know I just upgraded to a 3900x when I found a used one for barely more than the MSRP (it was $503).

Has anyone else acquired a Ryzen 3000 (even a Threadripper :) ?

The 3950X is still unobtainium and the 3900X is still mostly the same with occasional flurries of availability.
