There are New Mac AMD & nVidia Apps at BETA to be tested and very few Macs running them. Anyone with MacOS 10.12 Sierra or higher should move a machine over to BETA for a while and help test them. 8.23 (opencl_ati5_SoG_mac) & 8.23 (opencl_nvidia_mac) |

Hmm...need to unpack boinc...Haven't run it in a LONG time on this machine Edit... Ok running on my old mac. Will do what I can but leaving the country soon so it's offline after that till I get back in 2 weeks. Posted over on Seti@home FB page to see if we can get a few people to help out there as well. ![]() ![]() |

It's a pretty sad situation at beta. Appears no one is running any tasks, I've already completed my daily allotment but the completed tasks aren't validating, so, the server has stopped sending me any tasks. I have 160 tasks pending and no new tasks are being sent.....wonderful. |

Just started over there. 2 done but it's a slow process. Looks like around 1 hour on my laptop. Got a thumbs up on FB so maybe we get a couple others. Will see. ![]() ![]() |

I have 160 tasks pending and no new tasks are being sent.....wonderful. It has been a while since I fired up Beta. Just added it to a new box. I will see if I still have it setup on another box. The downside is I can't test any of your Mac apps. But at least I can crunch data so you are not left hanging.... Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

my machine is too old, but I'll try and get the husband's machine to sign onto beta when I get home. Anything I need to know to set it up? |

Not really, just finishing some tasks would help. If you want to test the Apps you'll need at least MacOS 10.12.x Sierra or higher and a recent AMD or NV GPU. It appears the main problem is the Validator is out to lunch...still. There are WUs at beta with two or more results that have been waiting Hours (up to 13 Hrs) to be Validated. Many of them. |

It looks as though Eric has fixed the Validator problem at beta. My Valid number had been below 30 most of the day and then suddenly went to 180. The Pendings went from around 200 to 50 in a matter of minutes...nice. Things are looking much better... |

My machine downloaded it and some data, and just continually threw that right into computation errors. Did anyone test it for macOS 15? I hear it is very touchy to some executables. When I hit such a high failure rate, I just aborted them all not knowing you were trying to validate a program. |

No information about the options for the mb_cmdline-8.20-opencl_ati5_SoG_mac.txt options, and the setiathome-8.20-opencl_ati5_SoG_mac_README.txt doesn't have any information about it either. I've copied my mb_cmdline-8.20-opencl_ati5_mac.txt to the file in hopes that will correct the failure of every file being fed to the executable. My machine has downloaded a few of them, so we'll see sooner or later. |

The New App is on Beta Only, named setiathome_8.23_x86_64-apple-darwin__opencl_ati5_SoG.mac. For some reason the Main server has started sending out the Old App, which was replaced Years ago, named setiathome_8.20_x86_64-apple-darwin__opencl_ati5_SoG_mac. I have no idea why the server started sending out the Old 8.20 App on Main, but, I have noticed a few Hosts have received it since the New 8.23 was placed on Beta. Sounds like a question for Eric... The New 8.23 App has been run on a couple of macOS 15 machines at Beta without any trouble; https://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=84475 https://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=87981 Right now the printout says 8.23 has been run on 10.12, 10.13, 10.14, and 10.15, http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/setiathome_v8_x86_64-apple-darwin__opencl_ati5_SoG_mac.html If you'd like to try the New 8.23 version, you can find it on Beta or Crunchers Anonymous Also, currently I'm checking on a report that the Optimized CPU Apps don't work on 10.15, however, AFAIK the GPU Apps work fine on 10.15. To make matters more complicated Apple has allowed their security certificates to expire on their older versions of XCode, meaning you have to time travel to install the older XCode versions. |

We appear to be in luck. I just started those files I have and it looks like they quit failing. I suspect it had something to do with the configuration I had for my other apps with their specific settings which didn't allow this to run with default settings. Perhaps grabbing too many resources? I'd let people know if they're experiencing a high failure rate (error while computing) to copy their mb_blah file to the new mb_blah_SoG.txt file. |

Crunchers is being a PITA. Downloads only contain AP apps, and the site doesn't like the fact I'm in no group to sign up. |

The files at C.A. were compressed using Keka.app. Some have reported problems using other de-compressors, try using Keka.app. |

The thread you put in only contains older apps. The downloads only have AstroPulse apps. The sign up screen wants me to be in a group, and refuses to sign me up otherwise. |

You don't have to signup to download the files. I just tried the two r4008 files and they worked fine. Eric renames the Apps he puts on the SETI servers, the file you want at C.A. is named MBv8_8.22r4008_ati5-SoG_ssse3_x86_64-apple-darwin. That's the way it comes out of the compiler. The folder should contain; ap_7.07r2934_ati_sse41_x86_64-apple-darwin ap_7.07r3306_sse41_x86_64-apple-darwin ap_cmdline_7.07_x86_64-apple-darwin__opencl_ati_mac.txt ap_cmdline_apple-darwin_x86_64_SSE41_CPU.txt app_info.xml AstroPulse_Kernels_r2934.cl Docs mb_cmdline_mac_OpenCL_ATi_HD5.txt MBv8_8.06r3366_avx_x86_64-apple-darwin MBv8_8.22r4008_ati5-SoG_ssse3_x86_64-apple-darwin MultiBeam_Kernels_r4008.cl You may need to use the Stock CPU App for 10.15. |

Ok. Replaced that for the 8.20 file in the setiathome directory. Will give it a shot. Made sure to chown, 755, and all else. |

A thought I just had regarding "Limitations" on MacOS... OpenCL, (and OpenGL), in High Sierra, (and maybe even Sierra), ONLY works on the Primary GPU. IF one has more than one Discrete GPU, my concern is that JUST the Primary GPU will be Crunching on the new App from TBar due to this Limitation. EVEN in BOINC, OpenCL App ONLY shows on the Primary GPU in MacOS. So, what does one do with the other GPUs... Do they just sit idle??? (While the CUDA App DOES work with ALL GPUs in the System with cc_config.xml set correctly.) I've experienced this with StarCraft:Remastered, too... IF I connect the HDMI Cable, (DVI on the Mac Pro), to the Secondary GTX-1050 in either of my Systems, Battle.net App complains that "OpenGL NOT Present" - or some such warning message... IF the Cable is moved back to the Primary GPU, (a GTX-1070 in the Hackintosh, and a GTX-970 in the Mac Pro - (DVI on the Mac Pro)), StarCraft:Remastered Launches normally... The good news is you are one of the Handful of Mac users that have that problem. The problem only happens when you have more than one GPU and they are different types. About 99% of Mac users have either One GPU or Two of the Same GPUs. Even if you have different GPUs I've always been able to fix the problem by simply changing the Slots the GPUs are in. Look at the machine I'm running at BETA; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (2047MB) driver: 5902.58 OpenCL: 1.2 AMD AMD Radeon HD Ellesmere Prototype Compute Engine (4096MB) OpenCL: 1.2 They Both have OpenCL because I placed the NV card in the Lower Slot. If the NV card was in the 2nd Slot then only one GPU would have OpenCL, but I wanted it to work, so, I placed the NV GPU in the Lower Slot. My Mac with Five 1070s shows OpenCL on All cards because they are the Same GPUs. Again, Very Few people have Your problem, and you could probably fix it by changing Slots. |
