Ran into my dad while shopping at Sam’s. He’s doing okay and was pushing a shopping trolley. He dozes off easy if sitting watching the television. Other than that he still gets around being 74 years old.
I asked him if my stepmom was home. He said she was but her urn wasn’t. He brought the urn to the crematorium and they forgot they had it and had to look for it. So he brought her remains home with him. They found the urn and it will soon be reunited with my stepmom.

Well I didn't win at the task that I set myself for today and that was to replace the gas struts for my sedan's boot lid. :-(

After getting the front seats moved and laid forward I jumped into the back to remove 2/3rds of the rear seat and the sun came out of hiding so I started getting cooked (even with all 4 doors and the boot open). Then there was the was the years of mess under it that needed cleaning up, but I did make a couple of bucks out of it, before I contorted my self into several positions inside both the car and boot just to get 1 of those struts out with large amounts of effort in a very tight and confined space. Yes 1 mounting point is inside the boot while the other is inside the car (with a small hole in between) hence the reason to remove a lot of the back seat.

But no matter what I did I just couldn't get the new strut locked into place (it may have been easier with a 2nd person helping, but then maybe not either) and after almost 2hrs I was pretty well cooked so I just threw all the bits back into the back of the car and the mechanic can sort that out next month when he does the check up on the work that he did to it late last year.

Then as soon as I walked back inside the sun went back into hiding.

Anyhow after 14C (felt like 11C) start here we're now at a muggy 21C (feels like 22C) so I'm going to enjoy a few beers while I decide on what I'll have for lunch to go along with a spine pill.

Cheers.

Winning on a Thorsday morning in the highlands where it's 15C with 25C expected along with another possible show put on by the big fellow.

Anyhow it's time for a coffee while I decide whether I'll do a quick trip into town or not.

Cheers.

After that quick 80km round trip we're now at an overcast and muggy 19C (feels like 18C) here as I'm about to enjoy my last coffee for the morning.

Cheers.

I watched the Rose Parade on Channel 5's website. They broadcast it live.
It's about 2 hours before sunrise here in the Mountain West. My son has an early flight to New York. So I am up early to take him to the airport. currently weather is 40f partly cloudy with northeast winds at 3 mph. The temp is still dropping but should start warming up around 8; the forecast high is 58f.
I hope your day 2 of the year is filled with new rewards and brings you joy.

We're in for a cold one tonight.
Very clear, lots of stars (or at least lots for a place with a load of light pollution), cars already frosted over. I was going to go out, but I'm staying put by a warm computer or two.

And why do manual writers always miss one vital step, or get one fact wrong; currently setting up some stage lights, the manual says "cycle the power switch on the back of the base", but there's not switch on the lamp base, yo have to pull the power cord.....

I went to renew my drivers license today. They gave me a temporary paper license. My plastic license will arrive in the mail within two to four weeks from today. Big change from getting it before leaving the tag agency.

It's been that way here for around 10yrs now Admiral except that we should have ours in less than 2 weeks.

Meanwhile I've been across the road to pay my fortnightly grocery bill and down to the roadhouse to get 10L of fuel for the mower so now I'm going to enjoy my last coffee of the morning before I head out and spend 30-40mins discharging my rechargeable line trimmer and then seeing how far around the backyard I get with a tank of fuel in the lawnmower.

Cheers.

Good luck with that. I renewed mine in November. I am still waiting for the plastic one. I called last week and they told me they had the right address on the license, but mailed it to an address I had 6 years ago. They couldn't explain why.

No fee. They admitted they made the error.

After 30mins of tending to the veggies, 30mins discharging my cordless like trimmer, 1.5hrs of pushing the mower around plus a tank of fuel and 7 catcher loads I got almost half of the backyard tamed again, but now I'm totally stuff so I'm about to have a feed, take a spine pill, followed by a spinal reset.

BTW, it's now 23C (feels like 20C) here as those clouds gather around again.

Cheers.

We made it to 24C (felt like 22C) here today before the rain started to fall. I just hope that not too much falls so I can get back to my yard tomorrow.

Cheers.

I have about 1.5 years to renew mine.

Everything I have to drive to get, mail, food, some prescriptions, the nearest bus stop is 2.5 miles away and comes once every 4 hours.
It's 200 meters for me and the streetcars run each 15 minutes (30' in the evening); another line, 700m away, even each 10 minutes.

In the past we don't had to renew driver licenses. You could use your greasy and worn paper license with your funny photo as an 18-year-old until you stop driving in your eighties. Even the old licenses of the former, no longer existing, East German socialist 'republic' (GDR) are still valid within Germany. And within the EU countries you had not to expect any difficulties when renting a car with such an old license.

Few years ago the EU changed the rules and licenses have to be renewed regularly now. I think each ten years, with a current photo and so on (ah, of course fees have to be paid). But they arranged a decade long process, mailing and requesting specific age groups to renew their license to protect authorities from high workloads.

A little over 7yrs ago I was told that I was too old for a 10yr license so I had to put up with a 5yr job yet when that expired I was expecting to get hit with a 3yr limit due to my age, but I wound up with another 5yr job. Go figure.

Well as the sun sets here it's down to 17C (feels like 14C) with 12C expected in the morning.

Cheers.
