The winds started to kick up at 2 this morning. We are in the low 40Fs with sustained winds of 15 to 25 and gusts to 45. These would be fun at sea but loud on top of a mountain. Wind advisory warning that trees may be knocked down. Temps look flat. High today is forecast to be 44F.

P.O.E.T.S. Day got off to a 12C (felt like 11C) start here while a stinking 31C is expected.

Anyhow it's time for a coffee.

Cheers.

After taking yesterday's washing off of the line (it far too hot yesterday to bother) we're now up to 24C (feels like 21C).

Anyhow I'm going to enjoy what should be my last coffee for the morning while doing a bit more reading before day 2 of the 4th test match gets underway.

Cheers.

Back in the Food Desert in a dark damp fog.

... And the festive (human) supplies have held up well!

We seem to live in an egg desert. People are posting on Facebook and next door about which stores have eggs and their prices. Is this happening anywhere else?

We made it to a stinking 30C (felt like 28C) here today, but it's now down to 27C (feels like 25C) with a blob of storms heading this way.

Cheers.

Well, I was going to go out today to take some photos and fly my drone.
But.....
I'm staying in as the other side of the road is nearly invisible thanks to fog (It's more like an early November day than a late December da out there).
So, I staying in and making sure that the bottle of Port I have/had is slowly being depleted.

Well that line of thunderstorms has just passed us so I can quit being on storm watch and go onto watching the inside of my eyelids.

Cheers.

Swimming in a brightly grey fog.

And the change in routine around the festivities has got a number of people rather stressed or just in disarray...

And I'm having pause for thought for how best to help to sort them out. It's another of something that ain't my job!!... But... Everything is connected with knock-on consequences!

Yes, the bird flu is "killing" food prices... Not seeing any shortages.

Locally here in the DFW metro area 1 dozen large eggs go for anywhere from $4.13 at HEB (a Texas based regional grocery store) to $4.49 at Kroger. 18
Large eggs going for $5.99 at HEB.
The bird flu is also affecting dairy products...
1 pound of store brand butter ranges from $4.49 at Aldi to over $6 at Albertsons or Kroger.

Whole Milk - store brand is $3.19 at Kroger to $3.49 at Aldi for 1 gallon.

Today, Gasoline ranges from $3.299 (Sam's club membership price) to $3.699 in Forth Worth City limits, slightly less in the South & Southwest suburbs.

Interesting how the prices there differ.
Dozen eggs $5.99-$7.99
Butter $2-$7/lbs - the higher price is for organic
Whole Milk $4.50-$6.00 gal
Gas $3.29 CostCo member price to $3.69 Arco. Seems the same as yours.

I refueled my car yesterday evening at our "Jet" station, the local ConocoPhillips brand here in Germany. Gasoline (Super 95) was 1.75 €/l (euro per litre) which is $6.89 a gallon. Most of the amount is all kinds of taxes, of course. That's the average price here for months now. It's more expensive outside of cities (fewer gas stations).

--> 1 gal = 3.785 l; €1 = $1.04

Winning on a Saturday morning in the highlands where we got off to a muggy 16C (felt like 17C) start with a stinking 30C expected.

Anyhow it's coffee time.

Cheers.

I was going to do a bit more pruning this morning, but after some milk and a few other things from the supermarket I worked out that it's already far too warm out there, a steamy 22C (feels like 23C), and the old sciatica is playing up something bad again.

Meanwhile I could only get my unit down to 20C (felt like 17C) this morning so I don't know how long I'll be able to keep the heat at bay today.

I will have to go out there though to redirect a downpipe away from an IBC as it (like the rest of my tanks) is overflowing again after 14.5mm of rain fell here yesterday, but that can wait until after I get another coffee into me.

Cheers.

Dark damp wet foggy Out There...

Good dark chocolate stout in here with a fun quirky band!

Rain is forecast... No idea what my Fitzroy Storm Glass is showing.

... And I've two or three days of assessments to consider ready for a Big Meeting for what happens next here... And how.

I'm moving my festivities/celebrating to some proper celebrations early in the coming year!!

All part of the fun!

Meanwhile, the quirky band here are actually good fun!

On Tuesday Smart and Final had exactly one gross of eggs, restaurant packed. No other eggs of any kind at any price.

Ok... So we have rain... With the fog still.

And so we're back to a deep dull grey for the day...

For a splash of brightness: I have a beautiful pint mug of ground coffee steaming here to enjoy. Yay!
